I ordered a refrigerator door hinge, hinge pin, and washer. The descriptions and pictures imply that these items are sold separately. However, the hinge I received was an assembly that included a pin and washer. I replaced the original hinge assembly with the new assembly, but the door still sagged (not as badly as before). Had a friend who is an appliance repair tech. Replace the evaporator, the heater coil, and the filter/drier. Parts were soldered together and the compressor was put under vacuum. Then, charged with 5 oz. of refrigerant. The freezer works great now! Read more

This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. I had the same issue on my older unit and tore it apart replacing one item at a time over a three month period so on an older one i suggest do it all while it is apart. Read more

Walk into the kitchen on 21 Sep. Eight year old Frigidaire refrigerator appears to be short cycling, controls are nonfunctional. Unplug it for a few minutes, plug it back in, appears to return to normal function. Return to kitchen half hour 45 minutes later it's short cycling again. I ordered the door stops (or door cams) for both the fridge and freezer and the hinge bearings. I figured I might as well do both if I'm going to do one. Very easy. Watched a YouTube video. I put a new bottom grill but I had to loosen up the socket bolt on the bottom corner so the grill can fit in. After that I had to tighten the socket bolt back up. There were three of them and only two were good and one of them was bad. There was two on the top and one on the bottom. I took the bottom and replaced it to the top left in order to hold the door and it be able to open and close. I also changed the rubber gasket door. I applied Vaseline around it.
