This should be an easy 5 minute three screws out and three screws back in job....but on older stuff it's never easy is it? The screws that hold the skirt on my burner were, like the skirt, rusted solid and despite soaking with PB-1 Blaster they just broke off when I tried to remove them. You can't effectively drill out the remains of the broken screws either (well I couldn't) because the part they screw into is a soft alloy and the screws are hard so the bit wanders off center and if the hole... I bought replacement hinges and installed them myself. The hardest part of the job was the first part: to remove the oven door you have to lock the old hinges with small brackets, and one side did not want to lock--I had to use a hammer. The door was heavier than it looks, but the only challenge after that was the fact that the edges of the door parts were sharp. I probably should have worn gloves when handling them. After replacing the burner twice and verifying the fuel holes and orifice was not blocked, we fixed the problem by replacing the wiring harness P/N: AP3965774. That and making sure the burner was tightly screwed into the range base to ensure the correct spark gap. Read more
