This should be an easy 5 minute three screws out and three screws back in job....but on older stuff it's never easy is it? The screws that hold the skirt on my burner were, like the skirt, rusted solid and despite soaking with PB-1 Blaster they just broke off when I tried to remove them. You can't effectively drill out the remains of the broken screws either (well I couldn't) because the part they screw into is a soft alloy and the screws are hard so the bit wanders off center and if the hole... My gas & Carbon Monoxide alarm went off at 6:30 am a couple of Saturday's ago. Had to call fire dept. and gas company. Gas company found a leak in the area of my gas cooktop. They turned off gas and locked the meter. Found the leak & fixed, but while running pressure test on the line, found a leak at the shutoff valve on water heater. Fixed that, called gas company. After replacing the burner twice and verifying the fuel holes and orifice was not blocked, we fixed the problem by replacing the wiring harness P/N: AP3965774. That and making sure the burner was tightly screwed into the range base to ensure the correct spark gap. Read more
