The Lower Door Seal is an OEM part for Bosch dishwashers. It plays a crucial role in preventing water from leaking out of the dishwasher door during cycles. This seal is positioned along the bottom of the door, ensuring a tight and secure closure that keeps water contained within the unit.

Causes of a bad Lower Door Seal may stem from various factors. These include natural wear and tear due to extended use, chemical degradation caused by harsh detergents, physical damage like tears or cuts, as well as improper installation or alignment.

Symptoms of a bad Lower Door Seal include:

  • Water leaking from the bottom of the dishwasher door
  • Visible signs of wear or damage on the seal
  • Mold or mildew buildup on the seal due to constant moisture exposure

This OEM Bosch part can also be used on Thermador and Gaggenau appliances.

Dan, You will want to check to make sure that the spray arms are not damaged and if these check ok then the issue will most likely be caused by faulty door seal part number 12054183.

Hello Jim, The door seal 12054183 on this unit goes from the bottom left, over the top and back down to the bottom right as a continuous seal. The seal at the bottom 00432490 is merely a splash guard. Most of the time when there is a dribbling at one corner of the dishwasher it is caused by a stopped up hole in a spray arm forming a "wave" in the water in the tub. The bottom of the door is not sealed since it is used as an air inlet for the dry cycle. This will allow water to "splash over" if a wave develops in the water or if the unit overfills. This means the water valve 00425458 should also be considered.

Justin for Model Number SCHU5315 UC/14

Water is leaking from the bottom of our SCHU5315 UC/14 Bosch dishwasher and I think it may be caused by the Lower Door Seal. However, I'm having trouble finding out what part is the right one for our model. Initial searches hinted it might be http://www.appliancepartspros.com/bosch-door-seal-lower-298534-ap2802338.html, but the Appliance Compatibility Tool says no. It then says "See parts for model 5315" but if I follow the link, I find this same part listed again which claims it isn't compatible.

Ron, You would not want to use a silicone sealant. You will want to make sure that the tub is not overfilling. Also check the spray arms and make sure that they are not damaged or clogged.
