The Evaporator Fan Motor is an OEM replacement part for Electrolux refrigerators. It is responsible for circulating air throughout the refrigerator’s interior to maintain consistent cooling and optimal temperature distribution. This motor works to move air over the evaporator coils, aiding in the cooling process and ensuring that the refrigerator and freezer compartments remain at the desired temperature.

Over time, the evaporator fan motor can wear out or fail due to mechanical stress, dust or debris accumulation, or electrical issues. A malfunctioning motor can lead to uneven cooling or inadequate refrigeration, impacting the overall performance of the appliance.

Symptoms of a bad evaporator fan motor include:

  • Unusual noises such as rattling or humming
  • Inconsistent or inadequate cooling
  • Ice buildup in the freezer or refrigerator compartments
  • The refrigerator running constantly without reaching the desired temperature

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

NOTE: THE CHANGE FROM 4-WIRE TO 3-WIRE DOES NOT IMPACT PART

Marc for Model Number Fghb2866pf6

My Frigidaire gallery fridge keeps giving a 5y EF code. I have replaced the fan motor in the middle of Jan. and it started giving the same code again so I replaced the main control panel and thermostat in the middle of Feb. Worked fine for two weeks. I replaced the fan motor again yesterday but keep getting the same error code and thoughts? I was think the main board could be bad but everything else is working and I hear the compressor kick on then the error code appears. Thanks for the help.

Marc, you will want to test the voltage going to the fan motor by testing connection J4B pin 5 with the red probe of a meter to connection J4A pin 13 for 12 vdc. If 12vdc is there, then you will want to go to the fan and test the red wire with the red probe to the brown wire with the black probe and test for 12vdc. If the fan is not rotating and is receiving 12vdc, then the fan has failed. However, you may want to check the resistance of the windings of your compressor. You can check each pin to the others and the resistance should all be the same, if not then you may have a bad compressor that could be drawing too many amps causing other issues with components using dc voltage.

Red, coming off of the refrigerator control, at the J4 pins, you should have 12 volts DC at the J4B-5 to the J4A-13, if voltage is there and the motor does not run, replace the motor, if no voltage, replace the control.

Rc, Without that model number, we cannot pull a wiring schematic to properly diagnose the issue. Maybe check the user manual it might have been recorded in there. Sorry.

Hello Kyle, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can pull the wiring diagram and advise of the proper test points and voltages to test for at those points for a proper diagnosis. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Mike, You can test from the brown with a white trace to the red with a white trace. There should be 12Vdc present from one wire to the other or you can test from pins J4B-5 to J4A-13 for the 12Vdc. If the voltage is there, the fan motor has failed. If the voltage is not there, the board 5303918502 is the issue.

Hello Hayden. The fan is only designed to turn on with the fridge on. Not when the fridge is off. Thank you.

Hello Tim, This is probably about right considering the voltage drops involved. You should check for a proper ground and check for wiring harness damage and proper connections at the door hinge connector. There is most likely another issue causing the failure.
