Meg, the issue is most likely the 241708309/5304441058 Dispenser Control Board and/or the keypad ribbon between the facade and control board. Based on your information and description, there is a damaged or shorted circuit or "glitch" in the control board bypassing the dispenser and illuminating the filter light. Thanks,

Serge, Sounds like the switch is stuck closed, I would check it first and then if the switch is good it could possibly be your board. Part# for the switch {AP6887337} and for the board {AP3965513}

D Sanford for Model Number Kenmore 253.54662409

The water dispenser tube slipped out of it slot and would put water everywhere when lever was pushed so I removed the cover and had to unplug and unscrew the dispenser assembly to get to it. Once put back in place and dispenser panel plugged back in, the ice maker starting crushing ice continuously without the trap or the lever being pushed. Water still works fine if plugged in but wont stop crushing ice. I checked the triggers and they still click back when pressed and released. Don't know if I need to buy a new control panel or new dispenser control panel. Any help?

D. Sanford, For this issue the most likely cause will be that the dispenser power board is faulty and would need to be changed. The part number will be 241708102.

Brad, On the dispenser there is a red/black wire and a light blue wire that you would check for 120 vac. If there is power into the board then the board would be the issue if the dispenser is not working.

Hello Davis. On the J4-2 wire of the main board, you should have an output of 13 VDC going to the dispenser board. If not, then the main board is bad. If it is there, and the wiring is good, then the communication between the 2 board on J4-4 And J4-5 will need to be checked. J4-3 is the board DC common ground for testing. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
