1 Answer Hello Carol, It is a possibility that the water filter head is leaking. You may want to check to see if it is leaking around the filter head. Read More...

Kim October 09, 2012 for Model Number FRS26H5ASB4 My Frigidaire refrigerater has a couple of issues that I hope you can help me with. 1.The ice maker will only dispense crushed ice cubes, even if the crushed isnt selected. 2.The ice cubes are also hollow. 3.The water dispenser will not work. I was thinking of trying the bypass filter also. I tried to replace the water filter previously & it shot the replacement across the room from the built up pressure. (Glad I wasn't standing in front of it when that happened). So I had to put the old filter back in. Please help. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Kim, Remove the crusher bin and reach back to the auger motor and try to turn the yoke by hand. If it spins on the shaft, the threads on the motor shaft have stripped and the auger motor 5304462594 will have to be replaced. This will mess up the threads on the yoke 241726501, too, so it should be replaced also. If it doesn't turn freely, it has moisture condensed on it. it is frozen and it needs thawed with a hair dryer. Remove the crusher bin and set a hair dryer in there blowing on the motor area for about 15 minutes. When it thaws out it will once again operate normally. To prevent this from recurring, set the freezer one setting warmer. You will also have to go around the door seals with a mirror and a flashlight to check for air leaks, since an air leak will cause this issue. Also use the flashlight to check the ice door. If it doesn't seal, it will cause this issue. Shine the light toward the door from the outside while looking at the inside. If you see light, the ice door requires attention. The hollow cubes can only be caused by an insufficient water fill. This is always caused by a bad water inlet valve 242252702. It will have to be replaced before it causes a water leak inside the home. If it isn't opening all the way, it won't be long before it doesn't close when it opens. With the auger motor not working and the water not dispensing, the temperature is set too warm in the fresh food compartment and too cold in the freezer. The pressure being built up is from the iced up water tank in combination with the air in the new filter. Setting the fresh food side colder and the freezer compartment temperature colder should correct the issue. Read More...
