Removed freezer door by removing 4 bolts holding slide tracks for freezer basket. Pulled out old gasket. Soaked new gasket in hot water to smooth out a crease that resulted from shipping. Installed new gasket, starting at corners. Used a blunt tool to push new gasket into slot at the corners. Set remaining gasket material with hands. This was one of the easiest appliance repairs that I have ever done. This was a tough fix because there were two causes to my problem - a stuck water valve and a bad ice maker. I first replaced the water valve, but that did not resolve the problem. It was a pretty easy fix not as easy as the 1 nut models they show on YouTube it had 3 tiny ones that my big hands had a bit of trouble with. It said 15 minutes it took me about a half an hour. I called a service company just to see what they would charge. $90.00 to say hello 1 hour minimal labor $110.00 and $120.00 for the part. It cost me $90.00 and 30 minutes of my time. Walk into the kitchen on 21 Sep. Eight year old Frigidaire refrigerator appears to be short cycling, controls are nonfunctional. Unplug it for a few minutes, plug it back in, appears to return to normal function. Return to kitchen half hour 45 minutes later it's short cycling again.
