A bypass plug or bypass sytem is needed in some refrigerators, when you wish to disable the water filter system, and still have water supplied to the dispenser, with unfilterred water. The refrigerator has insulation on the back, which could absorb the stinch of the skunk. Have you tried any fridge aid 78956 to help remove odors inside the refrigerator and freezer? Jeff G. June 03, 2011 for Model Number 253.52649301 I am about to send the filter bypass back. I am unable to get it to stay in place. I see how it clicks in and its secure when I install it. When I apply presure by using the water feature on the door the filter pops out and the water stops flowing. The part looks good. Unfortunately I long disoposed of the filter that was in there before, so I cant compare them. Is this the right part, should I order another of the same or is there some trick to keeping the part in place? Thank you
