Eric May 18, 2011 for Model Number plhs267zab6 My fridge is not getting cold at all but my freezer is fine. I took some things apart and it seems as though the damper is not opening. Will this kit take care of that or should I be looking at the control knob also?
1 Answer Hello Eric! The cold control thermostat itself does not often fail. Assuming your damper was indeed the failed part, it should be all you need to replace. If you get the part and it does not fix your issue, you can return any part thanks to our 365-day no hassle return policy. You can follow the link I provide for more info on the policy. Mike T. May 11, 2011 for Model Number frs26rlecs0 Thanks so much for the reply in regards to availability of a control unit for my refrigerator. However, I will need some testing procedures to determine the faulty component. I am a master certified auto technician who specializes in electrical diagnosis so the use of a multimeter, ohm testing, etc. is something I am extremely comfortable with. I just need to know what the parameters are for the components being testing or a trouble tree of sorts. Can you help me with this? I would be happy to pay for any info you can provide so I can determine which component to buy from you. Thanks again.
1 Answer Hello Mike. For the defrost problem, you will need to look for a frost build up in the back of the freezer. If there is frost there, you will need to test the defrost thermostat 5303918214 and defrost heater 5303918255. They should read closed for continuity. If one is open, replace that part. If both are closed, replace the defrost control. For the damper 241600902 you will need to check and see if the door is opening and closing properly. If the refrigerator is at 55° the damper should be open. If it is closed, test and see if power is coming to the damper. If so, but the damper is closed, replace the damper. To test the cold controls 241537104 5304496561, remove them from the refrigerator and test them at room temperature, they should read closed with the knob in the on position. Then put the tips in a glass of ice water, they should open. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Mike T. May 10, 2011 for Model Number Frigidaire FRS26RLECS0 I would like to buy this part "Control Box kit" for my fridge but this one does not cover my model FRS26RLECS0. Can you please give me the part number for the complete assembly for my fridge? I looked around the site and can only find individual parts for my model number. I believe I have either the damper assembly, defrost module, or the fridge temp control switch causing my fridge to not be cold enough (50 - 55 degrees) but the freezer is perfect. If I can get a complete control box kit for my model of fridge it wil replace all 3 of those components in one easy assembly. Please let me know if you sell it so I can get it purchased asap. It seems to look exactly like the picture for this part number AP5176342.
1 Answer Hello Mike! Your model does not call for the control box kit. You can test the parts that you suspect with a multimeter MA-DM1.
