D August 17, 2014 for Model Number Cples399ec8 Just wondering if there is a way to test the burner switch with a multimeter. I've tried testing continuity between the various connections (p2,p3,etc) and there is none with the switch on or off, even with the known working switches. Also, what part no do I need for the front right (dual) burner. Thanks.

Yodermaker February 22, 2014 for Model Number Frigidaire PLES389ECB 30" slide-in I replaced a cracked glass cooktop. All was going great 'til I noticed one broken plastic thread on the duel-element control switch (316441801). I understand I can't just replace that simple part (which is mounted to the board to force the replacement price through the roof), but then I proceeded to break two more, leaving just one working switch. My question is, did I break these while removing and reattaching the wires to these, or did I over-tighten the large black plastic cinch pieces on the top, finished plate reinstalling? Because, to my knowledge, I didn't do anything that I was aware of to break those plastic threads?
1 Answer Yodermaker, The most likely cause for the threading to break would be when retightening the nut that holds them in place. Read More...

Daniel July 17, 2012 for Model Number ples389ecb The digital display for the burners reads "er" in one of them the others reads something like "Sb". Are the four burner controllers damaged?
1 Answer Daniel, Did you by chance have a power failure, or similar situation, while the stove was in use ? " An error message will be displayed (glowing “Er”) at power up (or after a power failure) if ANY of the surface control knobs were left in the ON positions If a power failure should occur, be sure to set all of the surface control knobs to the OFF position. This will reset the surface controls." We could find no similar error for the "Sb" in any technical data information, You will need to reset the power to the unit , make sure everything is Off or reset first. If the "ER" error persists, you'll want to check or replace the potentiometer 316441801 Read More...
Andy August 23, 2011 for Model Number PLES399ECC I just need the encoder (bit with the shaft) the threads around the shaft broke, anyone know where I can just get that part? Found lots online that are 703-10-00 but this one is 703-10-05, and also has -633 after that. Thanks in advance.
1 Answer Hello Andy! The encoder only comes available with the control for the element. For the single element control use 316441800, for the dual element control with potentionmeter use 316441801, and for the right front dual element control with potentionmeter use 316441804. Thanks! Read More...
Ed March 18, 2011 Well, we've already agreed that the switch is bad, but I've since discovered that this model and several others are under recall by the manufacturer noteing 70 incidents. They sent me a repair kit and are taking care of the service work. This may be helpful to others you are communicating with. Regards Ed
Ed March 14, 2011 As I previously mentioned I replaced the wires one at a time so as not to mix them up also there has never been a repair on the stove since I bought it brand new...P2 Brown, P3 Red, P4 Black same as the tech sheet calls for. Thanks for you efforts Ed
1 Answer Hello Ed. That would mean it is wired correctly. You could have a problem with the control panel assembly, or a bad switch. Thanks. Read More...
Ed March 09, 2011 I looked at the wiring and controls this morning and after discovering that the burners still didn't work I shut the main power (breaker) off and went to work...so the power has been off way more than 30 min. Still not working correctly. Initially while cooking the right front burner went to high heat, I tried to turn the burner off with the switch and it wouldn't respond. All other burners and switches were working correctly at that time and no previous repairs were ever made to the unit. I then replaced the right front switch...turned on the main power to the stove and now the both rear and right front are now not responding to the controls just the left front is correctly responding. The only wires I touched were the wires that went to the switch that was bad and I made sure to do them one by one so there was no mixup in the wires. Thanks Ed
1 Answer Hello Ed. I need you to tell me what color wires are on P2, P3, and P4. Thanks. Read More...
Ed March 09, 2011 I checked all connections including the the ones I didn't touch...everything is tight and right.
1 Answer Hello Ed. Ok I pulled the tech sheet on this. The manual said to make sure the control is not locked out. If it is not locked out, then try a hard reset by disconnecting the power to the stove for about 30 minutes. What eye is working? Is it the one you changed the switch on? Were the other eyes working before you replaced the switch? Thanks. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Ed. Check and make sure all of your connections are good and tight, and none of the other switches came unpluged while doing this repair. Hope this helps. Read More...
