You should replace the control module if it fails or malfunctions. Causes of a bad control module can include electrical surges, wear and tear over time, or exposure to moisture. Faulty wiring or damaged components within the module can also lead to failure.

Symptoms of a bad control module include:

  • Inconsistent or incorrect temperatures in the refrigerator or freezer
  • Refrigerator not cooling properly
  • Frequent cycling on and off of the compressor
  • Error codes displayed on the control panel

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Buckwheat, this error is going to indicate a stuck key in the touchpad. To correct this, the control assembly WB27X21183 would need to be replaced.

Harold, You have a light switch at the bottom of your door. When the door is open the switch pops out and the light comes on. Open your door and manually push the switch in and out and make sure the light goes on and off. If you have an electronic control on your door this reads the door open and sounds alarm. Your model didn't list that part but instead a mechanichal thermostat inside the freezer.

Donald for Model Number LFFH21F7HWA

I have a Frigidaire LFFH21F7HWA about 10 years old with a horizontal control panel on the front. The unit has stopped running. The display is showing a solid OF. Pressing and holding the control lock only displays LO and UL for a few seconds but always goes back to displaying a solid OF. None of the other three settings buttons work either. They all default to a display of OF. I've tried some of the other reset and diagnostic settings I read about on this site. None seem to work to. Is the panel bad or is something else possibly wrong?

1 Answer

Donald, the control is set in the off position and should be able to be activated by pressing the down arrow button twice within 2 seconds. If this does not correct the issue, then the cause would be a failed control 297235200. (Note: Control Only - Touchpad is no longer included.)

Julia for Model Number Frigidaire lffh21f7hwb

We have a Frigidaire lffh21f7hwb. Last week someone hit a pole (they were ok) and took out the power for almost a day. The freezer kicked on but I had to set the temp back on. Now it just says OF on the front. I unplugged it and plugged it back in but that didn’t work. It’s been unplugged for almost an hour so I’ll plug it back in 10 min. If that doesn’t work what else can we check? I’m kind of in panic mode, I have 1000 ounces of frozen breast milk in there and I don’t want it to start to thaw.

1 Answer

Julia, the OF is going to indicate that the freezer has been set to the off position. If the control 297235200 continues to set itself into the off setting, then the control would need to be replaced.

Richard S. for Model Number LFFH17F7HWB

I need to buy a printed circuit board, touchpad, and the trim cover, that goes onto that outside of the temperature controller, for the Frigidaire LFFH17F7HWB freezer on the electronic temperature controller. I noticed this is part number AP6333303 on this website. The description for this part mentions the touchpad is no longer included. Please provide the part number and pricing for the parts listed below on the electronic temperature controller: 1. the printed circuit board 2. touchpad 3. the electronic temperature controller cover in white

1 Answer

Hello Richard, The electronic control 297235200 does not include the touchpad any longer as per the manufacturer. I'm sorry but there is no listing for the touchpad or cover. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Mary, using a putty knife to press in on the locking tabs of the display located between the display panel and the door, you will want to gently pull the display straight out as each locking tab is released.

Denzil, You will want to check the thermistor for a resistance of 5K at room temp and if this checks ok then the issue will be a faulty control board.

Hello Doug, This is most likely caused by a failing control 297235200 if the unit is maintaining proper temperature. If it is not maintaining proper temperature, the issue could be in the sealed system and a Freon certified technician would be needed for diagnosis and repair.
