  • Regulates power to both the small and large sections of a dual burner
  • Typical failure symptoms: only one ring heats, no heat, won't switch between sizes, or heat stuck on high/erratic
  • Mounts behind the surface knob and governs burner temperature settings
  • Restores consistent simmer-to-boil control across all settings
What's included: 1 dual infinite switch Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker and allow the cooktop to cool completely
  • Access the control panel, then photograph or label all wire positions before removal
  • Move wires to the new switch one at a time, matching terminal markings
  • Reuse the existing knob; reassemble and test both inner and outer element settings

Rick for Model Number PLEF398CCC

Is there a trouble shooting procedure for the dual element (infinite switch) p/n: 316239601 with correct ohm values you can provide. Frigidaire model PLEF398CCC Right front dual coil burner is the issue. Symptoms: 1. When the LARGE large burner is selected, only the outer ring gets hot and the inner, small burner doesn't give any heat. 2. When the small burner is selected, there's no heat at all. Trouble shooting I've done: (@ 20k ohms scale) 1, When checked bottom pin to center pin: the Large burner (pot turned CW), ohms values are 9.54 (high) to 5.26 (simmer) Small burner: (pot. turned CCW) values are 0.52 high to 2.64 low.

Rick, the surface burner control 316239403KITK would need to be tested for 240VAC by placing one meter probe on the black wire of the terminal block to the terminal P7 on the control when the switch is turned on to either setting. If the voltage is not 240VAC, the control has failed. If the voltage is 240VAC, the element 316555800 has failed. The potentiometer would not be a concern as the element is turning on, it is one specific coil that is not turning on.

Michael, it is likely that the surface control board 316239403KITK has failed. It would be recommended that the wires are inspected for any broken or loose spots. Unfortunately, the surface control board has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

Hello Joe, The issue will be the infinite switch if the is a 240Vac electric range. If the model number is actually PLEF398CCD, you will need either 316239600KIT, 316239601KIT for the potentiometer, (for the two different size elements), or the 316239500 board. I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to please post a new question including the verified model number from the units' I.D. tag since the one provided will not come up for us as a valid model number. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Scott, With the switch being new then you will want to check the wiring between the element and the switch and if this checks ok then the element will be the issue.

Chuck for Model Number PLEF398ACA

The right front dual element burner p/n 316418400 on my stove top stopped working. When turning the knobs for upper right and lower right burners the lights work showing the temperature but there's no heat to the lower right burner. You can hear a click when turning on the right front burner. So I replaced the right front burner.but still no heat. The main stove console works great. So what could be the problem? Model is actually a ACB. I don't know if it matters.

1 Answer

Chuck, With the right elements not operating properly then this issue will most likely be caused by a faulty power control board or the wiring between the power control board and the switches on the unit. The power control board is part number 316239403KITK and the user interface board would be 316239500. The power control control will be the most likely cause.
