Randy October 18, 2016 for Model Number GLHS36EJSB0 Hello, I heard grinding noises from my damper after noticing my freezer temp was -17 when set to 0 and fresh food side was 37 (Normal). Damper door wouldn't open. A few hours later, flashing code 4. Removed the damper and noticed the plastic gearing is worn apart. Motor and all else in good order. Is there a place to buy this gear for cheap instead of wasting so much money in replacing the whole 241600902 assembly? Seems excessive for fixing something which a part that is guaranteed to wear out.
1 Answer Hello Randy. No, you will need to order the assembly if the gear is broke on the unit. Read More...
Joe June 23, 2016 for Model Number frs23kf6em8 I have a Frigidaire/Electrolux FRS23KF6EM8 side-by-side that started making a loud grinding noise. I replaced the 241600905 damper motor yesterday with a 241600906. Afterward the grinding noise went away, and the fridge seemed to be running well. However, I just realized that the water dispenser is now not working. What could I have messed up on the swap to make that happen? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Joe. Make sure it is not in a bind and also check the wiring to make sure it is installed properly onto the motor. Read More...
Brandy March 22, 2016 for Model Number frs6lr5em3 how do i know if my damper control is signal or double
1 Answer Brandy, In order to tell if your unit has a double or a single switch damper you would have to look at the damper. If your damper has never been replaced then it will most likely be a double switch and would be part number 241600902. Read More...
David March 15, 2016 for Model Number LFUS2613LE3 I have replaced the damper with a new assembly and now a new control board. But still getting a flashing 4 code?
1 Answer David, You will want to check the wiring between the damper and the control board. If the wiring checks ok then the new damper may be faulty. Read More...
Bob December 31, 2015 for Model Number FRS3HR5HW5 The flashing #4 came on. I replaced the damper control assembly. When I plug the fridge back in, I can hear/feel the damper opening and closing about 4 times. Then stops and the flashing #4 comes on again. I let it sit for about a day and the freezer started to freeze some items. Could it be some kind of control board?
1 Answer Hello Bob. Yes, you will need to replace the control board 5303918341 in the unit. Read More...
Van September 09, 2015 for Model Number Frigidaire lfus2613leo I replaced the damper control unit after a service technician said it was issue that refrigerator was no longer getting cool. (although he only opened door & did not connect any diagnostic tools). Now thermostat panel shows low temp (-4 freezer, 33 fridge) but refrigerator still warm. Doesn't seem like much air or any at all is blowing through damper vent. What could be issue? Fan at back is running. Replaced unit at night so it should have gotten cooler overnight right?
1 Answer Van, The most likely cause for this issue would be a faulty temp control board not sending the signal to the damper to open. Although you will want to check the return air duct to make sure that it is not blocked. The return air duct is located down near the crispers and may be covered by a grill. Also check the rear wall of the freezer to make sure that there is no frost building up on the wall which would indicate a defrost issue. Read More...
Keith August 06, 2015 for Model Number 253.51693105 I'm trying to fix my fridge on the cheap. Fridge side T-stat is bad. I have it out and have tested it. it will not open, which keeps the damper open all the time freezing food. Instead of the $150.oo tstat where I can find it( not going to buy the $250 control kit), I have found many 2 wire t-stats and am not sure which of the 3 original wires should be used on new t-stat. Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello Keith. Sorry, we can only advise to use the recommended thermostat on the unit. We can not advise how to change to another part not recommended for the unit. You need to replace the control box kit 5304482075. Read More...
Joey March 02, 2015 for Model Number FRS6LF7GS4 Getting error 4 on stat flashing. Says damper is bad. Disconnected damper. Compressor comes back on. After running for hours the unit shuts off. Have to unplug to reset stat. Is this because I disconnected the damper motor.
1 Answer Joey, Yes, unplugging the damper motor can cause this issue and you will need to replace the damper motor due to the error code. Read More...
Jack February 26, 2015 for Model Number FRS6R5ESBF Hi, just replaced damper assy. which had gone bad, and noticed upon power up that the damper started cycling from open to closed in about 10 seconds, and kept doing this constantly. Is this normal or should it operate differently after temps stabilize ?
1 Answer Jack, The damper should not cycle continuously. With this occurring then the most likely cause would be that the defrost control board is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Mark February 07, 2015 for Model Number FRS6HR45KS0 Ice door closes too quickly trapping ice cubes (blocking door open). What part(s) do I need? Thanks!
1 Answer Mark, You will want to take the dispenser cover off and check the dispenser to make sure you get the correct part but the most likely cause would be a faulty ice cute door assembly that is faulty or a time delay part number 241689301. Read More...
