The Drain Pump is an OEM part for Frigidaire washing machines. It's engineered to efficiently remove used water from the washer at the end of each wash cycle, playing a critical role in the appliance's ability to prepare for the next load.

Causes of a bad drain pump include blockages from small items or debris, mechanical failure due to wear and tear, or electrical issues preventing the pump from operating.

Symptoms of a bad Drain Pump include:

  • Water not draining from the washer
  • Unusual noises coming from the pump area, indicating a blockage or failure
  • The washer not completing its cycle
  • Error codes displayed on the washer related to draining issues

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Drain Pump (Part Number: OEM13079829)

1 Answer

Michael, The pump motor does not tell the unit to spin fast but if the unit is not draining then it will not spin fast. If there is a buzzing noise then it is possible that the pump is faulty and not draining well enough for the unit to go into full speed spin. If the water is draining completely then it most likely would be a faulty speed control board.

Hello Isaac. You will need to look and see if the water is overfilling or if a hose has a slow leak and only shows up on the large loads. Remove the toe panel and run the unit and look for leaks.

I have a Frigidaire front load washing machine that is about 7 years old. About a week ago it started sounding like there was something knocking around in the spin basket with the clothes. After the load was done I found a couple of golf tees. It stayed loud for a few days and then the noise stopped. Now the spin basket seems to scrape at the bottom and it doesn't drain completely on the final spin. What does it sound like it may be and what would be a fair price to fix it? Thank you.

Jennifer, You will want to check the drain pump for the golf tees being stuck inside causing the drain issue. Also the scraping noise may be wedged golf tees in side the tub. Unfortunately we cannot give a price for repairing as we are an online parts supplier and do not have access to service charges as each company would charge different prices.

Hello Intmd8r 333. You need to make sure the pump is not clogged and the door lock is good on the unit. Either part can cause the issue you are having with the unit.

Milesmac, Unfortunately the flapper is part of the drain pump and cannot be gotten separately.

Dan, You will want to check the pressure hose and air dome on the unit to make sure that the dome is not clogged and that the pressure hose is not clogged or kinked. If not then the pressure switch would be the most likely cause of the drain pump to continuously run.

Hello Rick, The most common thing to overlook that will cause this issue is if you forgot to plug the door switch back in. This is, of course, if you pulled the main front panel. Otherwise, if you turned the water off to the unit, it is common to forget to turn it back on. You might want to remove the front bottom panel to check to see if anything got pulled loose. Also, if you removed the hose from the pump on the side that connects to the outer tub, there is a hose that connects to a plastic adaptor that must be connected properly. This is the pressure switch connection. Without it, the unit will either not fill or it will fill infinitely.

Rick, If you cleaned the drain pump then you would have also had the filter right there. There is not a separate filter from the pump and if the unit is still not draining then you will want to make sure that the impeller of the drain pump is does not spin freely but has a magnetic jump to it. If it spins freely then the impeller shaft is bad and you will need a new drain pump.
