The Heating Element is an OEM part for Frigidaire ovens and ranges. It is responsible for providing the heat necessary for baking or broiling. The element converts electrical energy into heat through resistance; this heat is then distributed throughout the oven cavity to cook or bake food evenly.

Common causes of a bad Heating Element can include visible signs of damage like blistering, bulging, or breakage. A burnout may occur when the element overheats and fails, leading to no heat production. Additionally, electrical issues like a blown fuse or faulty wiring can prevent the element from receiving power.

Symptoms of a bad Heating Element include:

  • The oven does not heat up
  • Uneven cooking or baking
  • Longer cooking times than usual
  • The element not glowing when the oven is turned on

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

For Frigidaire Heating Element (Part Number: OEM16770402)

Hello Michelle. Make sure the thermal switch 318004900 is reading closed for continuity. If so, and the element is new, the board 318010700 is bad. The board has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part.

Stephanie, you need to check and make sure you have 220-240 VAC to the outlet at the wall (check and reset the breaker several times). and check the power cord connections at the terminal block on the back of the range. Apparently you have at least 120 VAC to the range, this operates the L1 voltage to the control, oven light, etc. L2 is usually the power supplied, to the elements, if the L2 circuit doesn't supply power to the elements the stove won't heat. If you need more assistance, please include a model number so we can verify the wiring and control board circuits.

Walter, You will want to check to see if you are getting power at the control board. If you check from L1 to bake with the unit turned on the bake setting, you should have 240 vac. If there is 240 vac present then the control board is bad and would need to be replaced. If there is not 240 vac then the you will need to trace back to the element.

Hello OD. Yes, it is normal for the element to burn out like that. The screws should be on the back wall on the inside of the oven. Make sure the power is disconnected before doing the repair to the unit.

Hi Christine, it is pretty much the same as shown in the video on our website. Take a look at the repair video on the link for your element 318255006 and you will see how easy it is. The element and range in the video may look different from yours but it is the same process. Disconnect the power from your range by unplugging it or flipping the breaker off. Remove the screws mounting your element to the back wall and slide the element out enough to reach the wire connections. Be careful not to let the wires slip back into the hole when you disconnect them from the old element. Remove the old element and attach the wires to the new element. Then mount the new element to the back wall using the same screws you removed earlier. It's as simple as that, hope this helps!
