Tom August 29, 2016 for Model Number GLEQ2152ES1 My main bearing went bad so I bought a tune up kit that included new upper and lower felt, belt, pulley. When i re-installed the felt, it looked like it was quite a bit thicker than the pieces that came off. It also had 3 large white tabs on the upper felt. I removed the tabs because my dryer doesnt have them and I could not get them to go back together with them on. The new felt is very tight. When i turned on the dryer, it was so tight it started melting the glides attached to the drum, then froze the drum to the felt. I tried cutting back some of the felt with a razor knife, but now some of the tabs have broken off of the drum glide and its frozed again. I still have the old felt, which was in good condition. Should I re-install the old felt? Any suggestions? Thank you. Tom
1 Answer Tom, The felt will be tight and the tabs that you took off the felt are meant to be there as they are for the glide to slide on without being directly on the felt. Would recommend getting a new felt and installing with the tabs on it. You do have to work at it a bit to get it to go in but it will work. Read More...
John K June 05, 2016 for Model Number 41790802990 Part 5303937139 has overhang of the glides. Mistakingly? I installed with the overhang pointing inward (where they may catch clothes). Since I had already glued I used my Dremel tool to make the glides even with the rim??OK??
1 Answer John, It should work ok with the glides being shaved down but keep in mind that the glides and felt seal may wear down quicker because of it. Read More...
Ken H. January 11, 2015 for Model Number FDE216RES1 I replaced both the upper and lower felt seals as well as the rear bearing assembly. When the drum bearing is resting in the cradle the drum does not reach the teflon glides on the upper front seal. It looks as though the drum sits at an angle sloping toward the back of the dryer. What gives?
1 Answer Hello Ken, If the unit is assembled correctly, the drum should be about level in the cabinet. You should pull the drum and check the assembly of the rear bearing and shaft assembly. Also insure that the drum is not contacting anything from the bottom or the heating element housing in the rear. The front panel should be even from top to bottom when installed. Read More...
Richard February 02, 2014 for Model Number Kenmore Dryer 970-78712-00 I just installed the dryer Maintenance Kit 5304461262. The only issue I found was that the drum didn't have much paint left where it contacts the glides. Is it possible / required for me to paint this, or can the Teflon glides ride on the bare metal? The metal was smooth and clean.
Mike January 04, 2014 for Model Number WCI BD100A-W0 Looks like I have an older model dryer, where the slider tabs (the parts that overhang the felt, facing the door) fit into metal brackets. The slides on the new part are spaced differently, and they no longer line up, and won't fit because interfere with the metal parts. Can I carefully trim the tabs by 1/8" so they don't interfere with the tabs?
1 Answer Hello Mike, As long as there is plenty of surface for the drum to ride on, there should be no problem with trimming them. Also, it will probably help to lubricate the slides. You should only use baby powder or corn starch to lubricate these so if it gets into the wash, it will not damage any fabrics. Read More...
Phil November 10, 2013 for Model Number Frigidaire FLXEC52RBS1 I have installed the front felt glide assembly and re-installed the front panel, but the drum looks like it is tilted and only just making contact on the top glide assembly even though the front panel is installed and is flush with the rest of the unit. Also, there is no paint left on the inside of the drum that contacts the felt assembly. I did not replace the lower felt. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
1 Answer Hello Phil, This is average for the design of this model. If the gap between the drum and the seal is large enough to grab items in the load, replacing the lower seal will take up the additional slack. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Lai, You are correct. The felt seal with glides is part number 5303937139. Read More...
Reggie September 06, 2013 for Model Number FSG447GSO Starting to get rust marks (1" long) 1/8: wide) on white clothing in the dryer. Replaced the felt guide a couple years ago. Is this part ready for replacement again? It was pretty easy to repair last time.
1 Answer Reggie, Based on the information it does sound like the front felt guide would need to be replaced. Read More...
Kelly April 26, 2013 for Model Number FDE3366RES1 We have ordered the felt replacement for the front of our dryer. The directions say about 1/8" of the felt will extend over the lip of the arch. Our dryer front has a lip on it that will not allow for the exending of 1/8" of the felt over the lip. How are we to assemble?
