Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM18998862)

Nancy, The refrigerator can not cause a chemical taste in the water. The lines are plastic tubing and would not create this. This would be more of a water supply issue. In some cases, when the water goes through the filtration and then gets cold it can have an odd taste to it.

I just replaced the icemaker 241798231 per the video. There was no immediate demand for water to fill the ice tray. Before replacing the icemaker: 1. water flows from cold water dispenser 2. old icemaker had no water even at proper freezer temperature 3. no obstructions in water tube from vale to ice cup in old icemaker 4. electric meter indicated no voltage on green solenoid connection at water valve behind/under freezer I replaced the icemaker and the new icemaker per video on this website and made a solid wiring harness connection. I raised, then lowered the on/off lever. There was still no water supplied to the icemaker. Question: Does the new ice maker require a time/temperature cycle before the first water supply will occur, or do I have a different problem? If there is a time cycle, how long until the initial water supply should occur (once at temperature)? I noticed prior answers stated 24 hours for a bin of ice, but my concern is that I do not yet have *any* water supplied to the icemaker. Thank you for great videos and Q&A. Thank you for your help with my question.

Ed, it can take an ice maker up to an hour to cool down to temperature and enter into a harvest mode where it will then call for water.

Ice maker not Making Ice. I changed the water inlet valve assembly due to not getting water into the ice maker. Water in the door works very well with good pressure. New Filter was put into place also. The fill tube is not blocked by frozen water due to being able to push a wire through it. To me the water fill valve is not getting the signal to send water to the ice maker. The ice make does rotate its finger from time to time but since there is no ice then nothing is put into the ice tray. What needs to be replaced to obtain Ice? Thanks Matt

Water dispenses from door just fine. But doesn't get activated for filling ice maker. The gears rotate, jumps teeth at a certain point, but even if I stop it from jumping and guide it through the rotation, still no water filling ice maker. When I remove cover of ice maker, I've adjusted the screw, no change, replaced LG gear, no change ( including the teeth jumping) and when I press the switch, I hear a click (I'm told that means it works), but still no water into ice maker...

Allyson, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty icemaker that would need to be replaced.

Hello Ken, likely the ice maker's tray wells are starting to get a mineral build up, that would prevent the ice cubes from releasing easily, to correct this the ice maker has to be replaced, part 241798231.
