The Ice Maker is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire refrigerators. Located inside the freezer compartment, it produces batches of cube-shaped ice automatically on demand. The ice maker features a freshwater inlet, ice-forming tray, and harvest mechanism to eject fully formed ice cubes downward into the storage bin below.

Causes of a bad icemaker can include mineral or scale buildup that interferes with the freezing and ejection mechanisms over time, worn components like the harvest arm or water valve, or problems with the water supply line.

Symptoms of a bad icemaker include:

  • Inadequate ice production or none at all
  • Partially formed or misshapen ice cubes
  • Frequent jams or failures during the harvest cycle
  • Leaking water from the production area.

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and some Kenmore models.

Peter, You do not need to remove the ice maker, to adjust the water level, and yes the " little translucent knob" has to be removed. here are the instructions " The water fill can be adjusted without removing the ice maker cover. To adjust the fill size, remove the small round plug next to the On/Off Switch. Insert a #2 Phillips screwdriver into the hole about an inch or until it engages the Water Fill Adjustment Screw. Turn the screw clockwise to reduce the fill size; turn the screw counterclockwise to increase the fill size. One turn equals approx 20cc (0.68 oz). The correct fill is 85 to 95cc (2.75 to 3.25 oz). When a water valve is replaced, check the fill volume. " Be careful with the adjustments, a 1/2, and no more than 1 complete turn of the adjustment screw at a time, you can cause the icemaker to overflow if you're not careful.
