The Latch is an OEM part for Frigidaire dishwashers. It secures the dishwasher door during operation, ensuring a watertight seal that prevents leaks and allows the dishwasher to run efficiently.

Causes of a bad latch can include wear and tear from regular use, damage from slamming the door, or misalignment over time. Additionally, the latch mechanism can wear out, affecting its ability to hold the door shut.

Symptoms of a bad latch include:

  • Dishwasher door not closing or latching properly
  • Mid-cycle interruptions due to door opening
  • Leaks around the dishwasher door
  • The dishwasher not starting because the door is not securely latched

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

For Frigidaire Door Latch (Part Number: OEM20969679)

Steve, This unit has a vent fan in it, you will want to check to make sure that it is not the vent that is blowing and causing the noise. Also if the water valve and float did not correct the issue with no water coming into the unit then the control board is most likely the problem with the unit.

Started a wash cycle and machine ran for about 2 minutes. Then the control panel blacked out and came back on about 2 hours later but showed a power failure code. Restarted washer and same thing happened again. Found a broken door latch and replaced it. Now there are no lights on the control panel and will not start. Owners manual says it could be the control board or the control panel so replaced the control board. Still no lights on the panel. Checked power during all this trouble shooting with an "AC circuit sensor and everything shows it's getting power including the control panel. Machine also has standing water in the bottom that hasn't drained out. Removed the lower spray bar and the strainers and haven't found anything. Drain hose is not plugged. Unit has run fine for 2 years till now.

Hello Randy. Check the breaker and the junction box under the unit. If all is good, it sounds like the console assembly 154791806 is the issue with the unit.

Samuel, If the unit is filling with water but not washing then you would want to take a voltage reading to make sure that the pump is getting 120 vac. If the pump is getting power but not rotating then you would need to replace the pump. If the pump is not getting power at the pump and the control board is sending power then you will need to check the wiring for breaks or damage.

HELP! I was having a problem with my dishwasher showing a CL code so I ordered the latch assembly from you. Unfortunately I accidentally mixed up the black and white wires. After getting the wires hooked to it the way they are supposed to ( i think), the machine counts down like normal, but does nothing. I ordered a new control board assuming that i fried this one, but it is doing the same thing. Is it possible that I need to replace the latch again? It did spark, and singe the left front wire prong on the latch. Could it be in the harness?

1 Answer

Samuel, It is possible that the door switch is faulty again. The CL error code indicates that the door switch is open. You will want to check the wiring between switch and control board for pinching or damage. If there is any damage then wires will need repaired. If this checks ok then you would need to replace door switch again.

Hello. The latch is mechanical and does catch on the strike on the unit. If the latch assembly 5304525218 is bad and is not connecting on the strike, it will prevent the unit from running. If the strike is broke, it will prevent the unit from latching. Also, if the dishwasher is un-level, it will prevent the unit from latching shut.
