For Frigidaire Gas Range Spark Module (Part Number: OEM18124278)

1 Answer

Jason, You can test the spark switches for continuity in the light position and if there is no continuity then they will be faulty. With none of them working it will be more likely the spark module that is faulty.

Robert, If you do a continuity test on the switch harness, in the lite position there should be continuity and if there is not then the harness is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Ninzo, if none of the ignitors spark when either of the left valves are turned to the light position, the failure would be in the switch harness 316580615. If the right ignitors spark but the left do not, the burners would need to be thoroughly cleaned and tested. If the failure still occurs, the failure would likely be in the spark module 5304508269 (this model only uses one module).

Mark, If you get spark from the burner when other burners are turned on but not with the one that is not working then this will be a faulty ignition switch.

Mexico man, You would most likely need the 316536622/316536622 Ignitor/orifice assy., top burner, right front, 17K, w/tube & holder to replace the "round piece, that goes right there under that burner" But first check to make sure the burner base, burner cap, and ignitor aren't distorted, damaged corroded or dirty. It is possible that you may need the spark module kit, but check for any loose wiring connections and that all the burner orifice holders screws are tight and have a good "ground" connection to the cooktop and a proper ground to the range. Thanks,

Tana, it would be recommended that the burner head is thoroughly cleaned to ensure there is nothing that could be preventing the igniter from sparking. Once this has been verified, the wire 5304494425 would need to be tested for any broken or grounded sections by testing for continuity. If the other ignitors spark when the front left switch is turned, the failure is in the igniter 316536602. If none of the igniters spark when the switch is turned, the failure is in the switch 316580615.

William, the burner head should be cleaned thoroughly and tested to ensure the ignitor will not spark. If it does not spark, the next step would be to unplug the unit, turn off the gas, and test the ignitor and wiring for continuity as well as inspect the ignitor for a cracked housing. The ignitor and wire should have continuity. If these test good, then the spark module 5304508269 would be the likely issue and can be found under the top panel by removing the grates, burner caps and heads, removing the knobs, then lifting the top panel off.

David, the spark module can be located either behind the control panel or just behind the lower back panel. With the unit unplugged and gas turned off, the back panel of the control is the easiest place to start to verify the location. Something that can prevent an ignitor from sparking is when the burner head gets a residue between the ignitor and burner head surface. This should be able to clean off easily. If the burner head is clear, and the ignitor does not have any cracks or broken wires, then it would most likely be a spark module issue.

D. Beyer, the best way to find the spark module is to trace the wires from the igniters to the module, it is normally located under the top or the back of the range.
