The Thermal Limiter is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers. It acts as a safety feature, designed to prevent the dryer from overheating by shutting down the appliance when the internal temperature exceeds safe limits.

Symptoms of a failing Thermal Limiter include:

  • The dryer failing to start or stopping abruptly during a cycle
  • No heat being generated while the dryer is running
  • The dryer overheating or feeling excessively hot

Common causes for a bad thermal limiter include restricted airflow due to a clogged lint filter or venting system, component failure from age or faulty manufacturing, and unusually high operating temperatures from overloading the dryer or mechanical failures elsewhere in the system. When a thermal limiter trips or fails, it must be replaced to restore functionality to the dryer.

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Thermal Limiter (Part Number: OEM6324555)

1 Answer

Mary, You will want to make sure that the blower wheel was also cleaned out. The other thing that could cause this would be a cycling thermostat that is not operating or a shorted wire.

Hello Phil. This is normal because the heater is mounted to the back wall. It should get very hot on the back of the cabinet.

Debra C. for Model Number FARG4044MW

My Frigidaire Dryer will not start. Lint trap is clean and no blockage of any kind found elsewhere. Lights will come on, go off, flash, and will stay when selected choices are made for drying; however, Dryer (Control Knob) will no longer "allow one push" (one beep) and start. 3 beeps and Pause or go off is all I am getting when trying to get dryer to start. Have also checked door - appears to be no problem opening and closing and staying closed. Circuit board problem?...knob probem?....thermal limiter problem? Other problem? Cannot wait to get part and get this fixed. Husband is an electronic technician...works on airplanes - autopilots...but he will appreciate some help with this dryer problem, so he can fix it. Prefer to order part or parts and fix this ourselves if at all possible. Thank You for this website and your help.

Hello Debra, The three beeps normally occur when the start button is pressed with the door opened. I would first check the door switch and the thermal limiter. There was a service bulletin on the thermal limiter causing an issue and the new part number 137539200 was provided as the replacement part number, taking the place of the original part number which was not listed to avoid confusion.

Eric, The first thing to check is the venting of the dryer from the blower wheel to the outside of the unit. Improper air flow will cause the dryer to not dry properly.

Hello Richard. As long as the wires are the correct ones for each part, the orientation does not matter.

Barb, If there is power to the main control board but no display then the issue will be a faulty control board which would need to be replaced. The part number for the control is 137070890NH.

Wolf, The thermostat that is located on the back of the blower housing is the cycling thermostat 131298300 which is 4 terminal. The thermal limiter is located by the top part of the heater and is part number 134120900 which is 2 terminal.

Eli for Model Number frigidaire affinity

I have an electronic Frigidaire affinity that makes a click noise after I press "start", time counts down, but it wont spin (at least sometimes). It seems like a deteriorating problem as it used to happen rarely, now it happens often. I don't believe its a fuse or switch because why then does it work sometimes, but not always? If its a heat sensor then shouldn't the "cool down" button come on (because it never does)? Any ideas? The unit is about 6 years old.
