The Thermal Limiter is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers. It acts as a safety feature, designed to prevent the dryer from overheating by shutting down the appliance when the internal temperature exceeds safe limits.

Symptoms of a failing Thermal Limiter include:

  • The dryer failing to start or stopping abruptly during a cycle
  • No heat being generated while the dryer is running
  • The dryer overheating or feeling excessively hot

Common causes for a bad thermal limiter include restricted airflow due to a clogged lint filter or venting system, component failure from age or faulty manufacturing, and unusually high operating temperatures from overloading the dryer or mechanical failures elsewhere in the system. When a thermal limiter trips or fails, it must be replaced to restore functionality to the dryer.

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.

Patrice, You will want to check to make sure that the tub is rotating freely and check the belt. If the drum will not turn by hand then the issue would most likely be the bearing on the drum seized up. It is also possible that the motor has failed or something caught in the blower wheel.

Hello Douglas, This can be caused by a heating element shorted to ground, a stuck thermostat, or a relay/timer issue.

Hello Ta. Check for a bad cycling thermostat in the unit. Also look for a bad or clogged blower wheel.

Bobby, The thermal device/fuse is in the motor circuit. If it were at fault the motor wouldn't start or run, so that's not it. If you're sure you have 220 VAC to the dryer then you will need to check the control board 134208151 for a faulty heater relay, check for a broken heater element 131553900 or wire to the element assembly, or thermostat 3204267.

Hello Phillip, You either have a bad thermostat 3204267 or a shorted heating element 131553900. Of course there could be an issue such as a shorted wiring harness or bad timer, but this is much less likely than a thermostat or heating element failure.

Hello SM. The motor is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. It is over heating. Also, make sure the venting is not clogged on the dryer as well.
