Nickster, To replace the middle spray arm you will do the following: 1. Remove upper rack and place rack upside down on a flat surface. 2. Place blade of a very thin putty knife between retaining ring and center spray arm. Lightly twist knife to lift arm from retaining ring. 3. Remove manifold from rack by compressing tube retainer clips and sliding tube backwards to clear front mount. Reverse this procedure to reattach manifold. 4. To reinstall arm, place both halves of retaining ring onto manifold. Place center spray arm over retaining clips and press into place. 5. After replacing rack in tub, reinstall rail end caps.

My question is about the spinning arm that goes under the top rack. The arm is still attached to the rack, but the piece that spins the water out was laying in the dishwasher when we moved into a new house. How does the piece that sprays attach to the arm? It doesnt screw on. I feel like maybe its missing a piece that attaches in the middle. The piece I am referring to is part AP3773587. What keeps these two pieces together in the middle? Thanks!!

Keith, to obtain the rubber end of the spray arm you must order the spray arm part number A01986801. The manufacturer does not offer parts to the spray arm separate. Sorry about that!

Jan, You will want to check to make sure that the check ball is moving freely and allowing the unit to push enough water to the upper spray arm. The spray arm may be getting water to it but if there is not enough pressure then it will not allow it to turn. Also check to make sure that the holes on the spray arm are not clogged.

Robert for Model Number 587.16252402

In this rental unit the Kenmore "Quietguard" DW suddenly began making loud noises. The sump strainer was improperly installed and had allowed broken glass to block the vanes of the motor impeller lowering output and causing cavitation. During the process the upper wash arm appears (even with the now quiet and properly pumping motor) not to be turning. QUESTION : if everything is clear and unblocked, can friction built by wear over time be preventing rotation, or should these wash arms rotate until they fall off ?? The top sprayer disc is working fine.

Hello Robert, If the upper spray arm is getting water to it and the spray arm is not turning then you would need to check to make sure that there is nothing clogging spray arm causing it to turn. If it checks ok then you will want to replace spray arm.
