For Ge Refrigerator Main Control Board (Part Number: OEM21564309)

Al for Model Number Ge refrigerator tpx24bpbj

We came home from vaction and freezer was one big block of ice could not open door for 5 days. I thought the water valve was stuck opened as after it thawed I hooked water back up and it started overflowing ice maker. But when I unpluged it it quit flowing. So I thought it might be the ice maker board but some see to think its the master or main board. Everything else is working I pull the wire off the water valve so we are able to use the frig but we are without a ice maker now.

Al, The issue with your unit would be in the icemaker as there is not a main control board that the icemaker would go through. You will want to replace the icemaker WR30X10093.

Brandy for Model Number gss25qgsc bb

Hello. I have a GE sxs model number: gss25qgsc bb. Several weeks ago the fridge side stopped cooling. I then discovered frost on the back panel of the freezer and determined that the coils were completely frozen. After some internet research I discovered that the defrost heaters can be a common problem so I ordered a new one and defrosted the coils with a hair dryer for the meantime. Once the new heater came in I removed the old heater and using a multi-meter tested it for continuity. The old heater tested fine but I went ahead and replaced it to be sure. I also removed the thermostat and tested it for continuity as well to ensure that it was good and it was. However, all of this has not fixed my problem. The fridge will cool for a couple of weeks until the coils freeze over again at which point I have to defrost with a hair dryer to keep things working. I am thinking this may be a main control board issue, but I hate to keep throwing money into parts when I don't know for sure. Any suggestions?

Hello Brandy. If the heater, thermostat, and thermistor are good, you will need to replace the main board on the unit to repair it.

Tom, You will want to check to make sure that the condenser fan motor is running. If not running when the compressor is running then you will want to check to make sure that there is 12 vdc coming to the fan motor. If this checks ok then you will want to test your thermistors to make sure that they have the proper resistance. The resistance values of the thermistors should be 42.2K ohms @ 0 degrees, 14.4K @ 37 degrees and 5K @ 77 degrees. If not within range then replace the thermistor. Check to make sure that the coils in behind the freezer wall are not impacted with ice. If they are then there is a defrost issue in which you will want to check the continuity of the heater and defrost limiter. If it does not have continuity then replace the part. If all these check ok and the evaporator coil has an even frost pattern then the issue would be in the control board. If the evaporator only gets a partial frost pattern then it sounds like a sealed system type of issue of a possible leak.

Joe, With the icemaker not making ice and the dispenser not dispensing the most likely cause of failure would be the filter head assembly WR17X22072.

Losthope for Model Number GE GSH22KGMBBB

I bought a used fridge, GE side by side model#GSH22KGMBBB for $300 and now I've put $100 more into it for a shelf and new water valve so the water dispenser works. But now my fridge does not defrost anymore. I took the defrosting unit out and it has continuity as well as the defrost thermostat. What else could it be? Also, the ice maker work can make ice, but water doesn't really dispense into it to allow the ice to be made. It dispensed water into the icemaker for about 1/2 a second and stops. If I catch it at that time, I can flip the switch on and off and it'll dispense for half a second each time I turn it on and then I stop when it's full and it'll make ice But the same thing happens on the next cycle. Any ideas?

Losthope, You will want to check the defrost thermistor. The thermistor should have a resistance of 42.2K ohms at 0 degrees. If outside of this range then the thermistor is faulty and would need to be replaced. If within range then the main control board would be the issue. Other points of reference for the thermistor resistance for any of the thermistors on the unit are 14.4K ohms at 37 degrees and 5K ohms at 77 degrees.

Tj for Model Number pfs22sisbss

I got a mew main board for my fridge. the installation instructions say cut the white wire in pin 2 of j1 harness. I don't have a wire their, so no big deal. step 4 tells me to cut the green wire in the capacitor board. but there diagram looks like nothing like what I have. I have 3 wires in my harness B,W,G not the B,B,G,W,W that they show. I do NOT have the plastic housing they show, my lines just come from the power cord. also they say cut the green wire, mine is green with a yellow tracer. the wire I have is just a ground. and my board went bad from bad capacitors on the main board. SO that being said, should I cut my green and yellow wire? ? ? ?
