Lino O. July 26, 2013 for Model Number GE REF GSH22JSTA SS Cubed ice dispenser does not work. Crushed ice coming out when asking for cubed ice. Noticed that the green light in the panel button for cubed ice is not as bright as the other button light indicators.
1 Answer Hello Lino, GE has had issues with the auger motor and the crusher/cube solenoid (AP2071947) freezing up. This can be caused by an air leak from the ice door (AP3672582), an air leak from the fresh food or freezer door, or the temperature being set too cold in the freezer section. If the ice door is not closing properly, the ice door solenoid may be rusted and holding it open. To thaw it out, remove the ice bin and use a hair dryer on the auger motor cover, (back of shelf where the ice bin sets). It takes about 15 minutes to thaw it out like this. From the description of your issue, replacing the ice door solenoid WR62X10055 will most likely prevent the solenoid from freezing again. Read More...
Michael G February 14, 2013 for Model Number GSH25JFXLBB The power went out at our house and our refrigerator quit working. I replaced the main board and all the lights, condenser fan, evaporator fan and controls are working but not the compressor. It appears to be an inverter driven compressor. What would be the next logical place or part to look for the problem?
1 Answer Hello Michael. If all is working but the compressor, you will need to order and replace the inverter board on the unit. Read More...
Cspencer January 26, 2013 for Model Number GSH25JSTA SS What part will fix our water dispenser so that it dispenses the water in Our GE Refridgerator door? We have tried a new main control board which it still would not dispense water. Water line going to door, I disconnected water supply under refridgerator, set the door for water, pressed the water dispenser button, water comes out of the water line to the door. I hooked line back up to door pressed the water dispense button and it will not dispense water out of door.
1 Answer CSpencer, Based on your post description, a couple of things to check or try. It sounds like the water line in the door is frozen. Check for "cold" spots or condensation or frost on the hinge side of the door panel, and on the freezer door inner liner. Disconnect the water line at the hinge connection, open the freezer door to at least 90 degrees, and leave open for 30 to 45 minutes (you may want to place a small container or towel under the end of the water tube(you may want to cover the freezer compartment opening with a blanket or turn the refrigerator off) Attach the water lines together and check for water from the dispenser, if it dispenses, you will want to reset the freezer temperature a couple of degrees warmer, and check to make sure there are no air leaks at the dispenser housing, dispenser flapper or door seals. Jacques G November 08, 2012 for Model Number gsh25jfxlbb My freezer door light is very dim. What is the problem?
1 Answer Hello Jacques, If the dispenser light is dim you would want to check to make sure you are getting proper voltage (12vdc) to the socket. If you are getting proper voltage you may need to replace bulb WR01X37886. If you are not getting proper voltage then you would need to replace dispenser control board WR55X23210. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Harry August 26, 2012 for Model Number GSH25JFTEBB The water Dispenser does not work. A technician has added a factory heating device to the nozzle where the water is dispensed and inserted a warmed probe onto thinking it was an icing problem. Very short time fix, less than 12 hours. The filter was changed and actuator on the back side works well. There are no problems with the ice maker. What do you recommend? Thanks for your assistance.
1 Answer Hello Harry, Believe it or not, the most common cause of this issue is actually the water reservoir in the bottom of the fresh food section freezing. The cause of this is the fresh food section being set too warm. I know this sounds like I've either lost my mind or I'm just blowing hot air, but if you think about how the unit actually operates, it makes perfect sense. First of all, the water reservoir is in the bottom of the fresh food section. Thinking logically, cold air is heavier than warm air, so this is where the cold air will settle when the fan isn't circulating the air around and mixing the air temperatures. Secondly, if the unit is set too warm, the fan doesn't kick on often enough to mix the air temperatures. This is a big issue since the air return is located down there next to the reservoir. This means when the fan isn't running, the cold air from the freezer compartment is able to migrate back into the bottom of the fresh food section. The answer is a simple one. First, use a hair dryer to thaw the reservoir so the water can dispense again. Once this is done, set the freezer compartment to one setting warmer and set the fresh food compartment to one setting colder. Even though this seems backwards, it will correct the issue. Let us know if this isn't the case so we can help you to further investigate the source of the issue. Read More...

Tony August 01, 2012 for Model Number Gsl25jfxb Ice dispenser not working. Water dispenser ok. Motor on dispenser would not work and would not turn by hand. I removed the motor and inspected motor and transmission. It Looked fine. Tested with 110 and motor worked fine. Reinstalled dispensing unit, and it's is working now. There did not seem to be water in the transmission . I am puzzled and looking for the next round of tests if this reoccurs.
1 Answer Tony, the auger motor could be getting frozen. Check and make sure the dispenser flapper is closing tight and seals around the opening. and the freezer temperature should be an average temperature of 5 dgrs. F. and the ice bin is not overfilling. Thanks Read More...
