The Refrigerator Union Connector is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It is responsible for connecting the water supply lines from the kitchen plumbing to the refrigerator, allowing water to flow to the ice maker and water dispenser. The plastic connector assists your water dispenser by joining two 5/16 inch x 5/16 inch plastic water lines. Over time, Union Connectors can crack or break under pressure.

Causes of a bad Union Connector include wear and tear from repeated use, exposure to extreme fluctuations or surges in water pressure, or damage from accidental mishandling.

Symptoms of a bad Refrigerator Union Connector include:

  • Water leaks at or near the connector area
  • Inconsistent or no water flow to the ice maker/dispenser
  • Fluctuations in water pressure to the fridge
  • Water damage to surrounding kitchen areas from leaks

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Lionel, You will need to order WR02X13738 for a 1/4 to 1/4 connector. To make things go a bit smoother, here is the John Guess Fitting Procedure: To remove: Push line in and hold the ring in, then, while holding the ring in, pull the line out. To re-install, push the line in until resistance is met. Push harder until the line "pops" in another 1/4 inch or so. Pull on the line without touching the ring to seat seal.

Ken, As long as the connector is not damaged you would be able to reuse it. If the water tube is not damaged should not need to cut it.

Marcos, As long as there is no damage to the tubing then you would not need to cut the end of the tubing but if you do cut it you will want to use a razor knife as a pair of scissors will crimp one side and cause it to not seat properly.
