The Control Knob Assembly is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This assembly includes the knob that users turn to select the washing machine's cycles and settings. It's a critical interface between the user and the appliance, allowing for easy operation and selection of the desired wash programs.

Over time, the control knob assembly can wear out or become damaged through regular use. This can lead to issues with selecting cycles or even prevent the machine from starting a cycle altogether.

Symptoms of a bad Control Knob Assembly include:

  • The knob feels loose or does not engage with the settings
  • Difficulty in selecting wash cycles
  • The washing machine fails to start when the knob is turned
  • Visible cracks or damage to the knob or its housing

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

The push-pull function does not work. I replaced the button and clip, but the problem persists. When I push to stop the machine, it does not stay in place (in the stopped position). If I hold it down mid-cycle, the machine stops. But as soon as I let go, it springs up and the machine will start again. I cannot keep it turned off. It doesn't "click" into the off position. Is there something I can do to allow the shaft to click and stay in the off position? The part # is GE 175D2307-P054

My local repair shop wants $310CAD for the whole timer. Is there something I can do to allow the shaft to click and stay in the off position?

Hello Josh. If those are bad, you will need to order and replace the timer on the unit.

Cella, The control knob staying pushed in would not be a knob issue. This issue would be the cause of a timer issue in which part number WH12X10297 would need to be replaced.

Hello Lila. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to grab the clip with or use an ice pick.
