John, there will be a vent that runs from the oven to just underneath the control panel. If this vent is blocked during oven operation, it will cause heat to accumulate near the control panel and compound with any heat applied on the rear surface burners. This can affect the glass touch panel WB57K10045 and potentially cause early failure.

Annie for Model Number JBP23DN1WW

My stove seems to be having a temperature disagreement and I wonder if I need to replace the control board. When I preheat it to say 400 degrees the timer will go off because it thinks it is there, but the gauge inside says it is only 250 degrees. Both of the elements work and it will broil. I thought it was the thermostat, but replacing that didn't fix the problem. I live in an area where it is difficult to get service so I could really use any guidance you could give me. Thank you.

Annie, Thanks for the question!!! Before replacing the control allow the oven to run for an hour after preheating and read the thermometer after that. Some thermometers are slow reacting and take time to catch up to the stove. You could also try a different thermometer.

Steve, This would be an overtemperature issue and will want to check to make sure that the sensor is good an if it is then the issue will be a faulty control board.

Steve, the bake and the broil elements would need to be tested for continuity to ground after the range power cord is unplugged. If there is continuity, the element with continuity to ground would need to be replaced. If there is not, then the main control would have a stuck relay and the control would need to be replaced.

Patti, for a spark to occur, there would be a bare wire or broken section of the broil element WB44T10009 if the spark is occurring near the element. This would need to be addressed. If the spark is occurring at the console, the wire would need to be inspected and if there is not a break or bare spot in the wire, the control WB27X45466 would need to be replaced.
