Frank for Model Number JBP23DR3WW

I asked an earlier question in which I had replaced the control board, the temperature sensor and broiler element. I learned that the bake element might be weak and causing the problem and given a model number. The advice was to measure the resistance; it should be 22.3 Ohms at room temperature. If it varied more than 1 Ohm from that it was bad. Mine read 21.4, not quite 1 Ohm off. I ordered the replacement model number anyway; right out of the box it checked in at 21.2 Ohms. Needless to say, the oven is still not fixed. Everything inside the oven is new. Where can I get a repair manual for this appliance with the correct diagnostic numbers? If 22.3 is accurate then the brand-new GE part is defective. I'd like to know the diagnostic numbers for all the parts to check them, too.

Hello Frank, thank you for contacting APP, You may need to contact the manufacturer to acquire a tech sheet or service manual with the information you are looking for on diagnostic/technical specifications. That being said, from the parts you have replaced and the ongoing issue I would suspect a poor connection/wire not fully seated in its connector, or a pinched or otherwise damaged wire in the wiring harness. Just to be safe I would recommend making sure all of your connections are secure and wires are fully seated, even with the wires reading as having continuity as stated in your previous question, a connector that is making a poor connection to a component or a wire that is not fully seated in its connector, or a pinched/otherwise damaged wire may not be carrying the load to allow the unit to heat correctly. It does not appear that the manufacturer offers the wiring harness(es) for the oven as serviceable parts.

Frank, based on the information provided, it sounds like the bake element might have weakened. The broil element only cycles on for about 20 seconds or so to help heat the oven during a preheat, and does not necessarily get red hot. This can be verified by testing the broil element for 240VAC during a bake cycle, where it should only get voltage for a short period of time. If this is the case, the oven can be turned off, power cord unplugged, and the bake element WB44X45494 tested for resistance. It should measure 22.3 Ohms after it has cooled down. If it measures more than 1 Ohms from this, the bake element is the cause of failure. The programming code that was used is the correct code for the model provided.

Nick, as the original control is missing from the programming chart, the personality code is going to be either 17 (falling back to the previous version) or 18 (falling between the previous and next numbers). If setting the control to one personality does not operate properly, the personality can be reset to the other.

Charlie for Model Number JBS30RK1SS

Hi, GE electric oven: first issue was one of the burners stopped working. Soon after none of the burners worked along with the oven/broiler. However, the control panel clock works, clicks like the over is set to preheat, but doesn't. The burner lights click on red when a burner dial is turned on, but no heat. I ordered a control panel from you guys... easy install. Same issue when I turned the power back on. So, I figured it the personality code had to be set. The sheet for personality codes do not match the part number I was sent. WB27X45466 I believe there was an alternate number for this one, but the number still didn't match any of the personality codes. Also, if you do have a personality code, what are the steps to set that code?

Charlie, based on the information provided, it sounds like there is a failure on the L2 voltage supply. The terminal black would need to be tested for 240VAC from the red wire to the black wire terminals. If there is not 240VAC, the breaker may need to be turned off and turned back on to identify if voltage is able to reach the appliance or not.
