Joe June 04, 2012 for Model Number GSS201EPAWW The fresh food side is not cooling. The damper does not open and close as it should. It stays closed unless you unplug it.
1 Answer Hi Joe. The damper part # WR09X10050 gets its commands from the control board. The cavity thermistor part # WR55X10025 senses send the board the internal temperatures. It allows the board to send the command for the damper to open or to close when needed. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. They should ohm out to 10,000 ohms. First test these. If the thermistor reads more then +/- 5% tolerance, replace them. I would use the link http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/refrigerator-freezer-repair/4220-ge-refrigerators-gs-ps-models-evaporator-fan-motor-test-replacement.html provided to explain the main control board part # WR55X10942C diagnosis. Let us know how to assist in the future. Thank You. Read More...
Bill June 01, 2012 for Model Number g25kgmbww The freezer is working fine but the fresh food is not. When I first plug it in the damper opens for about 12 hrs and then closes.I replaced the mother board and when I pluged it in the freezer still works fine but the damper closed only after a few minutes. Is the damper bad?
1 Answer Hello Bill. No, it sounds like the damper is fine in the unit. The issue may be that the temperature sensor WR55X10025 is getting false reading and will need to be replaced in the unit. It should read around 10k when tested at room temperature. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
