Dave, Check to see if there may be detergent or rinse aid deposits on the latch and surrounding areas. If OK, you'll need to remove the front panel and replace the detergent/rinse aid dispenser WD12X10163.

Benito for Model Number GLD5600N00BB

After confirming that this part was compatible with my GE GLD5600N00BB Dishwasher I was able to replace the old faulty dispenser door. One thing that my door had that your instructions didn't mention was a plastic bracket that was used to secure the unit from the inside. The problem is that the bracket did not allow for a fully tight seal causing the dispenser to be loose. I believe running the wash this way would cause a leak since water could very easily get in behind the dispenser unit. Do you guys recommend a solution for this? Do I need some kind of gasket?

Hello Benito, The bracket WD12X10146 and screws should pull this assembly down against the seal on the back of the dispenser assembly.

Steve, While it is always possible that the dispenser being faulty would cause this, it would not be likely for this to occur. This would be more likely a loose or pinched wire somewhere or would be a control panel that may be the issue.

John, We're going to need a model number of the dishwasher, your description would indicate you may have a "bulk dispenser" and it may be clogged with coagulated detergent and the sensor is "stuck" or the control is mis reading the data. The user's manual usually has "dispenser purge" information and directions.

Gene, In most cases there are 2 reasons for the dispenser door not opening. Either the dispenser is faulty or the control board is not sending power to the dispenser to open. It is more likely the dispenser will be the issue and would need to be replaced.
