Scott, You will want to open the dishwasher door and check to see if there is any damage to the gears inside the dishwasher. The detergent door lever may be faulty.

Hello Joel, This is commonly caused by a detergent residue build-up on the associated parts. I would disassemble it and gently scrap the detergent residue from the parts. If necessary, replace the "O" ring on the shaft by taking it with you to a local hardware or auto store and matching it up, since the manufacturer no longer offers it.

Hello Robert, You will most likely need the detergent cup shaft seal. Since GE has stopped offering this part, it will be necessary to remove the Detergent Cup Shaft & Lever to get the old "O" ring out and take it to an automotive or home improvement store and match it up. Be aware that if the diameter is too large, the cup will not open properly and if it is too small it will leak.
