For Ge Microwave High Voltage Diode (Part Number: OEM9577608)

Fensterlips for Model Number PES7227SL3SS

This GE microwave is only a couple years old. It stopped heating food. It now has a lower frequency growl while the turntable turns. I tried buying a magnetron on Amazon but the order failed. The magnetron label says Toshiba 2M248J but the label has a next line that says OC14 and then 36 and then on the bottom of the label (MT) -B. Is my problem likely to be the magnetron? Are the other numbers critical to getting the right unit or only 2M248J? Thanks

Fensterlips, unfortunately, the manufacturer does not list replaceable parts for the model number provided. However, a lower frequency growl can potentially be an issue within the transformer.

Martin, as there is not an abnormal noise, the magnetron WB27X11079 would need to be inspected for any damage. This would include the antenna. If the magnetron is not damaged, it is likely that the capacitor WB27X10011 has failed.

We came back to our home after being gone for some time and none of the buttons on the control pad would work. The reading on the unit says AUTO with three small words (enter, food and code) flashing. I tried to reset via the breaker and the word RESET appears initially and eventually AUTO with the three small flashing words reappears. None of the buttons on the control pad work at all. The unit seemed to work fine last time we were here. Appreciate any advice you might have.

Hello Peggy, You will need to replace the control panel WB07X11056. I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

I have a GE oven/ microwave in wall combo unit. Nether the oven or the microwave will heat. The fan runs continuously when the circuit breaker is on. When you try to start the oven, everything seems fine but it will not hear up. Neither element in the oven will heat. But the microwave will also not heat anything up. The buttons work, you press start, the turntable turns, but nothing heats up. What would possibly cause both things to stop working at the same time?

1 Answer

Brad, Based on the information provided I would start by checking the incoming power, for the oven you can check at the control board from L1 (black wire) to the red wire on the DLB for 240vac and then each of those wires to N (white wire) for 120vac.

Leo, This unit has a mandatory replacement instead of repair so the manufacturer will not list any parts.

Hello Wayne, likely a high voltage component, (diode, cap, magnetron tube, transformer ) has failed. To check, the microwave would have to be unplugged, unmounted, the outer case removed and the capacitor safety discharged, then check /test those components.

Barry, there may be a way to adjust the lighting via an options menu. If you could provide a model number in a new inquiry, we would be able to accurately identify if adjustments are possible.

Hello Royal. You most likely have a "high voltage" side malfunction. Transformer, diode, magnetron, Capacitor. You will need to be extremely careful if you decide to test the components with a multi meter, Very high residual voltage is present, so make sure you remove power to the microwave and short across the terminals on the capacitor. The magnetron should have a reading of less than 1 ohm resistance across the two terminals, and an "open" circuit between each terminal and chassis ground. The diode/rectifier should have a resistance reading in one direction only, no resistance, or resistance in both directions indicate a faulty diode. The primary winding on the trans former should read approximately 450 Ohms resistance, the secondary winding should read 80 ohms resistance, and the filament transformer should read 100 ohms resistance. If all the readings are proper and in range, replace the magnetron.
