The Drum Support Bearing is an OEM part for GE dryers. It is designed to support the rear of the dryer drum, ensuring smooth and stable rotation during the drying cycle. This bearing reduces friction and wear on the drum and motor, contributing to efficient and quiet dryer operation.

You should replace the drum support bearing if it becomes worn out or damaged. Causes of a bad drum support bearing can include regular wear and tear from frequent use, lack of lubrication, or debris accumulation. A faulty bearing can lead to increased friction and noise, affecting the dryer's performance.

Symptoms of a bad drum support bearing include:

  • Squeaking or grinding noises during the drying cycle
  • The dryer drum not rotating smoothly or being off-balance
  • Increased drying times or uneven drying of clothes
  • Visible wear or damage to the bearing

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Amy, The front bearing snaps into the front panel. It really isn't hard to remove or re-install. You just have to make sure not to pinch any wires. Note how the wires are routed before dis-assembly and maybe take a few pictures with your cell phone from different angles to prevent confusion during re-assembly and you will be fine. If the seal fits the front of the drum good it will not need replacement. If it does need replaced, it does glue in with high temperature adhesive (AP4284239).
