The Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It is responsible for circulating air over the evaporator coils, which are responsible for cooling the refrigerator's interior.

Causes of a bad evaporator fan motor can include bearing failure, motor burnout due to overheating, or electrical issues. A malfunctioning fan motor can lead to temperature fluctuations, frost buildup, and ultimately, reduced cooling efficiency.

Symptoms of a bad evaporator fan motor include:

  • Warm temperatures in the refrigerator or freezer compartments
  • Frost or ice buildup on the evaporator coils or inside the compartments
  • Loud or unusual noises coming from the fan motor
  • The fan not running or running intermittently

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello George, thanks for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com It appears that the unit will need to have the software updated using software module WR98R6353202 so that the fridge section evaporator fan WR60X26866 may be installed, I would also recommend replacing the fan mounting seal WR24X27948 if it appears worn or damaged.

Blake, the module would only be used with serial numbers beginning with HZ-VH (May 2012 - Nov 2017). As your serial number begins with GG, the software sum module WR98R6353202 would not be necessary.

Larry, Based on your model number the evaporator fan for the refrigerator section calls for part number WR60X26866, This one requires module (WR98R465901) to program before installing the new motor. If this is for the Freezer evaporator fan motor part number WR60X25858 is the replacement and it does not require the module.

Taylor for Model Number PYE22KSKSS

November 2022 I had to replace this fan and it successfully allowed cooling to resume. Yesterday I noticed the fridge was not cooling again so I assumed the fan was faulty for the second time. I removed the cover and discovered the fan was no longer spinning and the entire evaporator was iced over including on the defroster thermostat and thermistor. I defrosted all the ice and installed a new fan BUT the fan is not spinning. I checked the volts from receptacle and it reads 13.6 volts so it is receiving power. I plugged the new fan (and the old one) into the receptacle for the Deli fan and this made the fan turn on. Puzzled..I checked and replaced the thermistor in the fridge side thinking this might do the trick but the fan still will not turn on. I have the Defrost thermostat coming in the mail tomorrow, assuming this might be worth replacing as well. I fear that this is a bigger issue then these small parts and the issue could be with the main control board? Does this sound like a control board issue if the outlet assuming it is not triggering the fan to turn on?
