Can this be done with the dishwasher fully installed or does it have to be pulled out a little which I really don't want to do. Also are both gaskets the same part number for the left and right side. I have been told that these gaskets are there for cosmetic reasons only and are really not necessary is this true? Thank You for your help.The appliance company that installed my dishwasher threw the gaskets away either by mistake or it was to much trouble to install them after the dishwasher was installed I don't no which.

You should check for split/separating spray arms or anything that would cause a "wave" in the water that could splash the water over the air gap in the bottom of the tub used for the dry cycle. 1 Answer Hello Jay, You will need to check the spray arms for stopped up spray holes and separations where the spray arms are put together at the factory. You are basically looking for anything that would cause a wave in the water. The bottom of the door is an air gap and not completely sealed since it is used as an air inlet for the dry cycle. Joan February 08, 2015 for Model Number GE Dishwasher GDWF100V40BB I need to replace the gasket trim I think. It is the black rubber on the front side of the dishwasher. Right now it has come off and it is hard to put the bottom rack back in. The wheels get caught. Just want to be sure it is the Gasket trim and not tub gasket. Can I just glue the one that is there or do I need to replace it?
1 Answer Joan, if you are having hard time sliding the bottom rack back in due to a gasket you'll more than likely need the tub gasket, part number WD08X10032.
