For Ge Dishwasher Side Trim Gasket (Part Number: OEM11382960)

Joe Fez for Model Number GDT695SSJ2SS Dishwasher

I need to replace both the trim gaskets on my dishwasher. Can this be done with the dishwasher fully installed or does it have to be pulled out a little which I really don't want to do. Also are both gaskets the same part number for the left and right side. I have been told that these gaskets are there for cosmetic reasons only and are really not necessary is this true? Thank You for your help. The appliance company that installed my dishwasher threw the gaskets away either by mistake or it was to much trouble to install them after the dishwasher was installed I don't no which.

Joe, To install the side trim the unit will need to be pulled out a little and this side trim is the same part number for left and right side.

Hello Mark, The lower door seal is only available by ordering the inner door liner WD31X10042. You should check for split/separating spray arms or anything that would cause a "wave" in the water that could splash the water over the air gap in the bottom of the tub used for the dry cycle. This would also include an overfill situation as a possible cause.

Jay, If the black seal at the bottom of the door is torn then you would need to replace the inner door panel part number WD31X10087.

Hello Jay, You will need to check the spray arms for stopped up spray holes and separations where the spray arms are put together at the factory. You are basically looking for anything that would cause a wave in the water. The bottom of the door is an air gap and not completely sealed since it is used as an air inlet for the dry cycle. For this reason you should also check for an over-fill situation. The part you were viewing is considered a splash guard by technicians although the manufacturer calls it a gasket.

Joan, if you are having hard time sliding the bottom rack back in due to a gasket you'll more than likely need the tub gasket, part number WD08X10032. Try reinstalling the existing gasket back in the channel it installs onto. If its ripped, it'll need to be replaced. It is not recommended to glue the gasket. Thanks.

Denny, Unfortunately there is not a video for the bottom door gasket replacement. To change it out you would need to remove the inner door panel and will be able to access the door seal from this point.
