Questions & Answers

For Ge Dishwasher Side Trim Gasket (Part Number: OEM11382960)

1 Answer

Jessica, This may be something to have the installers or a service to come out to repair since the unit is new. There is not really anything that you can do except be aware of it occuring and phyically make sure that it does not get caught. This may just need a new trim piece as it may be warped.

Alex, Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not have a side trim piece for your model dishwasher. You could try part number WD01X29479 which should work for your unit.

Cindy, I believe those strips might have screws if you fold back the lip you can remove them like that. They are simply spacers to fill gaps between your unit and cabinet so removing them is fine.

Lawless for Model Number GDT630PSMSS

I purchased GDT630PYMFS and had it professionally installed. When the installer left, I noticed that there was about a 1inch 1/2 of black rubber hanging out on each side of the dishwasher. After using Google, I discovered that this was the "side gasket". It is not appealing to the eye for this to be hanging outside of my cabinetry. Was the dishwasher installed incorrectly? Should it be pushed back further? (The base of the dishwasher is flush with the cabinets, but the door extends out about an inch or so)...Can I trim it down? Take them off?... I need some advice. (My Installer hasn't gotten back to me yet)

Lawless, If the side trim is able to be pushed back then just push it back and if it cannot then it can be trimmed.

Hello Todd, the top/side trims are for closing off the normal gap between the dishwasher tub and the cabinet opening. If the trim pieces are larger then the gap and cannot be altered to fit then they are not used. You may want to check the Installation Instructions that came with the dishwasher on this.

Andrew, the trim pieces should not be attached to the door panel. They are meant to attach to the dishwasher tub. If water is not draining properly, you may want to check to ensure there are not any partial clogs in the drain hose. If the water is leaking out of the dishwasher then you may want to check the door gasket WD08X10032 for any signs of degradation or debris that could be causing it to improperly seal.
