Phil June 21, 2015 for Model Number GE JGP940SEK2SS I have a burner control that has sparked and shot flames from under the burner knob. I isolated the problem to the third burner knob from the front. All other burner knobs were working normally; however, when the unit is plugged in this control sparks and trips the breaker. I have unplugged the range and want to know if I only need to replace the harness switch or should I also replace the spark module. thank you.
1 Answer Phil, This issue would be caused by a shorted switch and the switch harness would need to be replaced. The part number needed is WB18T10452. Read More...
Paul April 19, 2013 for Model Number jgp940bek2bb The igniter on two separate burners click when no one is using the cooktop. I think I should replace the igniter switch with harness. Is there any need to think it may be the spark module? Should I replace both?
1 Answer Paul, The most likely cause of failure is going to be either bad ignition switches or bad wiring from the switches to the spark module. If all the burners were clicking then the spark module may be the cause but with it just being 2 then the switches would be more likely. You can test the switches by check for continuity on them in the off position. If they read continuity in the off position then they are bad and need to be replaced. Read More...
