The Ice Bucket Assembly is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It is designed to store ice produced by the icemaker, providing an accessible and organized storage solution within the freezer compartment. This assembly, with a dimension of roughly 15 inches wide, 11 inches high, and 23 inches deep, is made to hold ice produced by the ice maker.

You should replace the ice bucket assembly if it becomes cracked, broken, or no longer fits properly in its designated spot. Common causes of a bad ice bucket assembly include physical damage from mishandling, wear and tear from regular use, or exposure to extreme temperatures that cause the plastic to become brittle.

Symptoms of a bad ice bucket assembly include:

  • Cracks or visible damage to the bucket
  • Ice not dispensing properly
  • The bucket not fitting securely in place
  • Unusual noises from the ice compartment

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

To replace you would have to disassemble the complete bucket assembly. We would need to model number to determine exactly which bucket design it is. Don, The part number you supplied is a complete ice bin assembly. If you want to repair the ice bin and replace the drive cup WR17X11459 you will need to dismantle the bin assembly and replace the parts as needed. Heres some basic help, "1. Remove the upper ice bucket tray. 2. Slide out the ice dispenser assembly.3. Remove the ice cube solenoid linkage Phillips head screw and slide the linkage back. 4. Remove the ice crusher cover Phillips head screws (2) and remove the cover. 5. With a pair of pliers, twist off the backing plate tabs located on either side of the crusher. 6. With 2 small flat-blade screwdrivers, unlock the ice crusher locking tabs located at either side of the ice crusher. 7. Lift the ice crusher out of the bucket. 8. Remove the ice crusher back cover. 9. Remove the locking ring from the ice crusher auger. 10. Remove the plastic nut with a pair of pliers by turning it clockwise. 11. Remove the spacers and blades. The blades are numbered for reassembly."

Hello Nikki, You need to check the ice door by shining a flashlight from the front while looking into the inside. If you see light, there is an air leak that allows frost to build up in the chute. The ice dropping through the chute sticks to the frost and causes "an ice cube traffic jam". The only other thing that can cause this is over sized cubes that can be attributed to an ice tray overfill from possible a failing water inlet valve or a set of contacts in the ice maker assembly sticking.

Hello Chuck, This is a rather common problem, but easily rectified. The motor shaft as stripped. The drive is probably fine, but in the process of removing it from the motor shaft normally strips the threads from it also. This means that you will probably need the auger motor WR60X10259 and the drive WR02X11534.

Mike, The partial model number you supplied, indicates you need WR17X4312 ice bucket and auger assembly. You will need to transfer the original bin front assembly or order a new one WR17X2063, which is No Longer Available, so be careful. Thanks and Good Luck
