This keypad is the touch-sensitive switch assembly behind the dishwasher's control panel. It enables cycle and option selection; when it fails, buttons can become unresponsive or behave erratically, preventing normal operation.

  • Mounts behind the control panel and sends button-press signals to the control board
  • Helps restore proper cycle selection and start/stop functions
  • Common symptoms include unresponsive buttons, intermittent or stuck keys, random beeps/lights, or needing to press very hard
  • Connects via a flat ribbon cable to the electronic control
What's included: One keypad assembly Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing
  • Access is typically from the inner door; remove console/inner panel screws to reach the keypad
  • Handle the ribbon cable carefully—do not crease; ensure the connector is fully seated and oriented correctly
  • Reassemble the console and test keypad functions before closing up completely

Hello Doug, this may be normal, according to the model's Owner's Guide: "If the drying fan is running and the CLEAN light is on, the drying fan can be turned off by opening the door and pressing any key on the keypad. If the Heated Dry option is selected, the drying fan will run during the drying portion of the cycle and up to 2 hours after the CLEAN light turns on, depending on the selected wash cycle. If the Heated Dry option is not used, the CLEAN light will come on at the end of the final rinse and the fan will run up to 4 hours, depending on the selected wash cycle."

Gerard. For this issue the keypad would be the most likely cause for the unit to not switch cycles.

Paul, Yes, there should be a start/reset light when the keypad is pressed. The LED lights are imbedded inside the key pad assembly WD34X11074 / WD34X11074 Keypad. The information indicates the keypad assembly and circuits have started to degrade and are malfunctioning.

P.G. for Model Number ZBD6880K10SS

Last night the power to my entire home went out. It came back on for a few seconds, off, then on again and stayed on. Since then, my GE Monogram dishwasher emits a continuous beep. No lights will turn on. I unplugged it over night then plugged it back on this morning to see if that would do anything but there was no difference. Just a continuous beep. No lights. Non functional. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? Can I do a simple reset of some code sequence? Do I need to replace a part, and if so which part exactly? Thanks

1 Answer

Hello P.G., To enter service mode: press and hold the down arrow keypad and then press the heated dry keypad simultaneously for 3 seconds. This will allow you to use the tech sheet behind the kickpanel to determine the issue.

Amy, To replace the touchpad you will need to remove the inner door of the dishwasher. You will need to disconnect the ribbon harness from the main control board. You will then peel the old keypad off and install the new one.

Cline for Model Number gldl500n10bb

Sometimes when you start the dishwasher you can hear the water run in and then the cycle will begin normally. However, sometimes when you start the dishwasher the water will run in but the cycle will not start. If you stop/restart the cycle and let the water pump out so that all the lights on the panel are off and the push ALL of the buttons on the control panel and then start the cycle again it will usually go ahead and run the cycle normally. What is causing this?

1 Answer

Hello Cline. Either the keypad is bad or the float is sticking on the unit. I would check the float and see if it is sticking on the unit. If not, look for a stuck button on the keypad.
