The Control Knob and Clip is an OEM part for GE washing machines and dryers. It attaches directly to the control shaft and is used to set the machine's cycles and settings. This knob allows for easy adjustment of washing or drying operations, making it a user-friendly interface for managing the appliance's functions.

Symptoms of a bad Control Knob and Clip include:

  • The knob failing to engage the control shaft, resulting in no response when turned.
  • Cracks or breaks in the knob, making it difficult to grasp or turn.
  • The knob slipping or spinning freely without changing settings, indicating that the clip may be worn or broken.

Causes of a bad control knob and clip can include physical damage from excessive force, wear and tear from frequent use, or degradation of the materials due to age or environmental factors.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Doug. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the start switch WE4X782 is bad. You will need to remove the cover on the back of the control panel to access and replace the switch. Make sure the power is disconnected before doing the repair. Be sure and plug the wires on the new switch to the same location as the old switch. Hope this helps.

Hi Roger. The almond knob is part # WH1X2721. For white knob use WH1X2721, for black knob use WE1X1206. As for any wire that has snapped in half, treat it with respect and remove power. Use wire stripper/crimper tool part # MA-30428 and strip each end 3/16" and use a butt splice connector to adhere the wire together again. Part # TJMA02522-1. Thank You.

Eva, I don't see separate knobs listed, and the switch shafts appear to be the same dimensions, You are sure the metal "knob insert" in the back opening of the knob is in position inside the knob ? I'd be surprised if the issue is in the knob or the start switch. You may want to consider the door switch WE4M415 or possibly check and reset the breakers in the panel a few times. Thanks and Good Luck.
