Uncle Ernie January 24, 2020 for Model Number GTW485ASJ3WS Hello, I have a General Electric top load washer, that doesn't work. It starts to take in water, stops, and then all I hear is the lid switch locking and un-locking over and over. I'm guessing the lid switch or harness?? What do y'all think? Appreciate your help!
1 Answer Uncle Ernie, Check harness integrity and continuity from the mainboard to the lid lock assembly. If good, ensure harness connections are fully seated both at the mainboard and lid lock assembly. If the harness tests good, replace the lid lock assembly, the part number WH08X37938 The new part comes with a white moisture barrier. Do not remove this from the new part. Read More...
Melinda November 12, 2019 for Model Number GTW460ASJ4WW The washer will spin sometimes and sometimes won't. Thinking it may be the lid switch but just checking.
1 Answer Melinda, It would be recommended to put this unit into a service diagnostic mode and see if there are any stored error codes as this will guide you to what may be wrong. On this issue, it sounds like it could be an actuator issue but the diagnostic will give you a better idea. Read More...

Unplugged the machine but same problem. Could the Lid switch be bad? Can I test it by unplugging the switch and looping a short piece of wire in the plug?

Keith October 12, 2019 for Model Number GTW460ASJ8WW GE washer,1 yr 6 months old, left water, drained out thru hose, I can hear and feel door lock working but makes no attempt to spin, lights on panel work. Agitator spins by hand. No motors running. Is it possible door lock bad? part # wh01x27954.
1 Answer Keith, We are sending you the tech sheet. You will need to enter field service mode to check for fault codes. There is a service bulletin on the unit about detecting out of balance and not spinning out but will spin in manual test. This would require a software update and comes with instructions WH98R23015001 It also says the no drain can be from small particules blocking the impellar and a new design has been issued if you replace thew pump. John B April 24, 2019 for Model Number GTW485ASJ0WS GE Washer had a water in tub spin light on . set timer spin /drain hit start did nothing Help
1 Answer John, If the unit is not draining then you will want to check to see if there is power coming off the main control board to the drain pump. If there is no power and the door is locked then this will likely be a faulty control board. Read More...
