This genuine OEM part is sold individually. It is a transmission assembly for washing machines. The transmission assembly is the gearbox in the washing machine's motor that allows the washing machine to work at different speeds and different intensities. If the washing machine is no longer spinning properly and has lost its normal level of washing power, it could mean that the transmission assembly needs to be replaced. Luckily replacing this part is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. To replace the transmission assembly, start by turning off all power to the washing machine. Proceed to remove the upper control panel. To do this, pull forward on the bottom of the console and remove the two retaining clips as well as the harness connector to the lid switch. Using a flathead screwdriver remove the clips. After this, remove the entire cabinet from the back panel to gain access to the interior of the washer. Next, remove the 7/16 bolt from the agitator and pull it straight up to remove it from the shaft. Once completed, access the motor and pump and remove by releasing the screws and tabs that attach it. Remove the wire harness attached to the transmission. Remove the bolts that secure the motor mount to the transmission and proceed to pull the old transmission out of its place. Install the new transmission and reassemble the other parts. This replacement part is compatible with General Electric, RCA, and Hotpoint brand washers.

Jim, if the shifter arm is not able to move to connect to the motor assembly WH20X10024 then the gearcase WH39X10003 would need to be replaced. However, if the motor assembly does not rotate properly, it can cause the coupling assembly to not engage the gearcase properly. It would be recommended that the motor is observed during operation to identify if it is rotating and allowing the shifter arm to move as needed.

Todd, There are a couple of areas that need to be checked like the heater area, drain pump, hoses, and don't forget the water inlet valves could be leaking and flowing down. The only other issue would be the tub seal which is part of the gear case. WH39X10003

Len for Model Number WPGT9350C0WW

I recently replaced the Mech Hsng Asm - Bearing (AP3207181 WH39X10003) unit on this machine. This resolved the major bearing noise (metal on metal) that was occurring. However, now on wash cycle I am hearing a low-level grinding (either plastic on plastic, or possibly the seal breaking in with the splines?. I'm suspicious that the inner plastic housing on the Motor Asm Kit (AP6004391 WH49X25041) may be a little worn down from previous bearing going bad? Visual on it looks ok, however, I am curious of your opinion. Also, a little noisier than normal during final spin, however, visual on Balance Asm (AP3206129) and Suspension Arms (AP3205746) all look good. Thanks kindly for any feedback.

Len, if your washer is starting to sound like a jet engine when it goes into spin mode, this will certainly be an indicator that the motor kit assembly could be going bad. Another thing that can occur is dust or small debris can accumulate on the magnets in the rotor which can cause this issue and normally causes the rotor to improperly function even after removing debris.

John, You will want to try to rock the tub back and forth to break it loose or use a penetrating oil like PB blaster to try to get it to break free.

Hello Stan, This sounds like you have recieved a bad WH39X10003. While it is not a common issue, it is possible if the splines on the inside of the pulsator WH43X10027 are not stripped.

Joseph, The most likely cause for the unit to seize up would be the bearing failing on the unit and would require the Mechanical housing assembly WH39X10003 to be replaced.
