For Ge Round Style Oven Or Broiler Igniter (Part Number: OEM6042033)

1 Answer

Joe, You can't do broil in place of bake cause the broil doesn't maintain a constant temp like bake does. You would need to repair or replace in order to bake.

Randy, The model number listed is not showing as being a complete model but it would be recommended to check to see if the igniters are coming on. If the igniters are coming on then test at the oven safety valve for 3.2 to 3.6 Vac. If there is proper voltage then the safety valve would be the issue and if there is not proper voltage then the igniters would be faulty. If the igniters are not coming on check to see if they are getting 120 Vac to them. If there is not 120 Vac to them then the issue will be a faulty control board.

David, Yes, check the power out from the control and then the wiring from the control to the ignitor.

Lary, with the power turned off to the wall oven, the oven racks would need to be removed. Once the oven racks are removed, there will be two screws in the back of the floor panel that would need to be taken out. From there, the floor panel will lift up at the back, slide slightly towards the rear panel, and then the entire floor panel should lift up and out. The original ignitor, once removed from the burner, will need to have the wires cut about 1" from the ignitor. The wires would then need to be stripped by about the same length as the new ignitor's bared wires. There should be two ceramic wire nuts that came with the new ignitor that would need to be used to secure the ignitor wires to the original wires.

Wayne, yes, the igniter will remain energized as long as the oven needs to heat. The glow or radiance of the igniter will subside but will continue to glow in order to keep the safety valve bimetal open for heat. once the temperature is achieved, the power to the igniter will be removed, the igniter will cease to glow and the valve will close, until the temperature cycles down approximately 50 dgrs.F. then the ignition and bake process will repeat until the oven is turned off or canceled. Thanks,

Hello Clark, you'll want to verify the igniter is glowing bright. If its not glowing you'll want to test and see if you have ac volts present at the valve with the igniter turned on. If not present you'll want to replace the thermostat WB20K8, if present the igniter could be defective. Thanks!
