For Ge Round Style Oven Or Broiler Igniter (Part Number: OEM6042033)

Alanm for Model Number jgpb86web2ww

The movie shows the repair person going to the back of the stove to detatch the old igniter and then to push the harness through a hole into the stove. My stove is in a tight space and it will be extremely difficult to pull out the stove. Can the old igniter be removed and the harness pushed through by going intothe front of the stove. Several users here seem to suggest that this is what they did but I am not certain they were referring to this igniter and my moder stove.

Alan M., Your JGBP86WEB2WW range, may not be "exactly" the same as the range depicted in the video. Once you remove power to the range, remove the oven door, oven racks and oven bottom panel, You'll have a better idea. Then you can remove the flame spreader and go to work. The WB2X9154 / WB2X9154 RANGE OVEN IGNITER is a "kit" and comes with high temp. porcelain wire nuts. If you aren't able to access the connector or can't move the range. You can cut the connectors from the wires, measure the wires for a proper fit, and splice the two wires together using the wire nuts. be careful, the igniter is pretty fragile and can crack or break easily, once power is restored check the oven for ignition , heat, and operation.

Hello Freeman. If the ignitor is new, and you smell gas, then the burner needs to be removed and cleaned and make sure the hole are not rusted over.

Ken, If you test the igniter to make sure that it is getting 120 vac to it when set to bake and if there is 120 vac then test the oven safety valve to see if there is 3.0 to 3.6 vac getting to the valve. If there is then the igniter is good and if not getting proper voltage then the igniter is faulty. If there is not 120 vac to the igniter then the control would be the issue. If there is proper voltage to the oven safety valve then this would be a bad valve.

Quinn, This issue will most likely be in the oven thermostat WB20K3 with the knob having to be switched back and forth.

Hello Thelma, from your description it sounds like you might have a weak igniter. You'll want to check your wires going from your igniters to your gas valve. If your wiring looks good you'll want to make sure your igniters are glowing almost a bright white. The bake igniter is part number 316489403 and the broil igniter is part number 5304506545.

Hello HHDA. The wires will need to be cut and spliced into the new ignitor using the provided ceramic wire nuts for the unit. Thank you.

Hello Joe, If the ignitor WB2X9154 is glowing red or orange it is most likely breaking down and in need of replacement. It should glow yellow to white hot to draw enough current to open the gas valve.

Hello Bryan, igniters are an electrical component and must have two wires to allow voltage in and voltage out. If you connect both wires to one, you'll create a direct short. Try tracing your wires from the safety valve to the bake igniter, hope this helps!
