Jason October 24, 2013 Hi, I have a GE stove. The broiler stopped working suddenly. The bake and top burners work fine. When you turn on and press start its lights up saying "hi" and you hear a click but broiler does not turn on and no gas comes out. Could this be an igniter issue? I have to get model number.
1 Answer Hello Jason. Test and see if there is power coming to the igniter. If so, and it does not glow replace the igniter. If there is no power there, replace the control board. Read More...
Larry R. October 20, 2013 for Model Number jgbp28seh2ss I got the broiler igniter from you and it works, but the igniter stays on. It does not go off. Is this normal or should it go off after the gas is ignited?
1 Answer Hello Larry, If the current through the ignitor is discontinued, the gas valve shuts, eliminating the flame. Read More...
Aaron October 15, 2013 for Model Number JGBP28DED1WH Hi, our oven takes a long time to get up to temp. I did some testing and found the ignitor is orange, which I thought was normal, but might not be, and the gas took around 45 seconds before it lit. It lit up for a short bit and then went back out before lighting up again shortly after. It continues to do this over and over. I found a video on testing safety valves with a multimeter and mine fell within the stated 'good' range of 0-5 ohms. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you
1 Answer Aaron, Test for 3.2-3.6 amps at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html It sounds like the igniter could be the issue but here is how you will want to test the igniter and oven valve. 1 Answer Hello Tony. If none are sparking, it sounds like the spark module WB13K25 is bad on the unit. Read More...
John October 05, 2013 for Model Number JGBP26WEA5WW I cant find a the part number for this model for a ignitor.
Kathy September 07, 2013 for Model Number JGBC15GEN1 I replaced the round igniter on my GE gas range as it was not glowing properly and the food would take forever to cook. Anyway I've done this before with no problem. This time I removed the old igniter replaced the new same exact way as the old one. Turn on the gas and electric turn on stove and the igniter glows the way it should but yet it is not igniting the flames. Like I said I know I did it right because I replaced it once before. Anyone have any ideas why it will not work??
1 Answer Kathy, You will want to test the oven safety valve to make sure that you are getting 2.5 to 3.2 vac to the valves. If you are then the oven safety valve is the problem and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Mike H September 03, 2013 for Model Number GE XL-44 Can you replace the oven igniter with the broiler igniter?
Pete September 02, 2013 for Model Number .362.7556591 My oven turns on and off and makes a puff or popping noise. It heats up but takes a long time. The broiler seems to be working fine. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Pete. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Richard July 03, 2013 My old Kenmore wall oven lights intermittently. When the igniter comes on it is good but there are times when I set the oven and nothings happens. Is it the electronic board, igniter or the gas valve

Nelson June 26, 2013 for Model Number JGBP30BEA4WH My oven burner flame is constantly turning on and of, making very hard for the oven to reach the desire temperature. The igniter appear to be working, but I don't know to what capacity. Would this problem be do to a weak igniter or do you think it is something else?
1 Answer Nelson, The oven igniter would not be the issue with the burner shutting off and on. This issue would be caused by a bad safety valve WB19K14. Read More...
