Bob H October 18, 2017 for Model Number PSS26MSWASS GE Refrigerator PSS26MSWA SS .... Ice maker issues. Plastic drive cup has broken 2 times now, and I am wondering what the common causes of this are. The maker seems to have issues in the crush mode, then the tab on the drive cup breaks off. I am about to replace the cup, which I got from APP, but should I be looking for other items that are actually causing the cup to break?
1 Answer Bob, With the drive cup breaking this would normally be caused by a issue with ice clumping together inside the bin and will cause this issue. Look for icemaker possibly leaking that could cause this or a ice door that is not sealing completely. Read More...
Bob June 24, 2014 for Model Number PSS26MGPA WW Regarding the helix and helix plate for the ice bucket: Does the helix really need to be replaced if it is only the helix plate that is stripped out? Your response to another question implies that this is the case. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Bob. Not, sure where you saw that answer I checked and did not see it. However, the answer to your question is no. If the helix is good, you can just replace the helix plate. Read More...
Julio February 26, 2013 for Model Number DSHS5PGXAESS How does the auger assembly get removed from housing?
1 Answer Hello Julio, Discontinue the power supply to the unit and pull the ice crusher bin from the unit. Remove the one or two screws from the left side of the auger motor back cover. It will now pivot around toward the right and you will need to unplug the wiring harness. It will now come out so it can be serviced on the table. From here it is pretty much self explanatory. Just keep up with the screws and the locations they will need to be re-installed into. Read More...
George August 12, 2012 for Model Number Psc25mswa I just replaced the helix in my ice maker but it spins freely. I also noticed that the helix lock where the shaft goes through is rounded and not oval like the picture. Does this hole have to be oval and fit tightly around the shaft?
1 Answer George, Yes, the helix plate has to have the oval opening, and it also has to snap and lock into place on the back of the helix WR17X11457 . These two component cause the cubes to separate, and drives them through the drum and out the bin. Thanks Read More...
