Manufacturer Part Number: WR17X11458

This helix lock plate secures the ice bucket auger (helix) in the dispenser assembly so ice can move reliably to the chute. Replacing a worn plate restores positive drive and helps reduce jams, slippage, and grinding noises. What it does:

  • Locks the helix to the drive so the auger rotates under motor power
  • Maintains alignment of the auger/helix stack inside the ice bucket
  • Helps prevent slippage that causes weak or no ice dispensing
  • Can help address symptoms like no ice dispensing, auger not turning, or loud clicking/grinding from the bucket
What's included:
  • 1 helix lock plate
Install notes:
  • Unplug the refrigerator and remove the ice bucket before servicing
  • Note the order and orientation of blades, spacers, and hardware during disassembly
  • Transfer/install the plate in the same orientation; tighten fasteners snug, not overtight
  • Crusher blades and edges are sharp—wear cut-resistant gloves

Bob, With the drive cup breaking this would normally be caused by a issue with ice clumping together inside the bin and will cause this issue. Look for icemaker possibly leaking that could cause this or a ice door that is not sealing completely.

Hello Julio, Discontinue the power supply to the unit and pull the ice crusher bin from the unit. Remove the one or two screws from the left side of the auger motor back cover. It will now pivot around toward the right and you will need to unplug the wiring harness. It will now come out so it can be serviced on the table. From here it is pretty much self explanatory. Just keep up with the screws and the locations they will need to be re-installed into.

George, Yes, the helix plate has to have the oval opening, and it also has to snap and lock into place on the back of the helix WR17X11457 . These two component cause the cubes to separate, and drives them through the drum and out the bin. Thanks
