This pump and brake assembly drains water from the tub and applies the basket brake in your top-load washer. Replacing a worn assembly restores proper draining and a safe, prompt basket stop between cycles. What it does

  • Pumps water out of the washer during drain and spin phases
  • Applies the brake to stop the spin basket between cycles or when the lid switch is activated
  • Helps reduce extended coast-down and stopping squeal
  • Typical symptoms: standing water, slow/no drain, leaking at the pump area, basket coasts too long or squeals when stopping
What's included
  • One pump and brake assembly
Install notes
  • Disconnect power and water supply; drain remaining water from hoses before service
  • Access from the washer's underside; support the unit securely
  • Transfer existing hoses/clamps to the new pump and secure all connections; if belt-driven, verify proper belt routing and pulley alignment
  • Run a brief fill/drain test and recheck for leaks and proper basket stop

The issue could be with something caught between the tubs of the unit. It could be an issue of the brake not fully releasing and allowing spin. Also check the lid switch to make sure that it is working properly.
