The Drain Pump is an OEM component for GE dishwasher models. Located at the bottom of the dishwasher tub, this pump works to remove dirty water from the wash cycle and drain it out of the appliance. It is a vital component responsible for fully clearing all water from the dishwasher.

Causes of a bad drain pump can include a clogged or restricted impeller which prevents proper water drainage. Sediment buildup over time can reduce the pump's efficiency. The motor or internal mechanics may also fail due to extensive use.

Symptoms of a bad drain pump include:

  • Incomplete draining of water at the end of cycles
  • Puddles or standing water left in the bottom of the tub
  • Smelly dishwasher from stagnant water issues
  • Error codes related to draining problems

This OEM GE part is also compatible with some Kenmore dishwashers.

Hi Jeff. There are a couple of things to check B/4 exanging the pump. Take a bucket and remove the drain hose from under the sink. See if it will drain into the bucket by either pressing drain or cancel. See if the hose is clogged with debris or is it clogged in the sink plumbing? Is the drain hose looped and attached to the uppermost part under the sink back wall? Then taught into the drain connection? Check the pump impeller to see if it spins freely on the pump shaft causing it to pump inneffectively. This part # is WD26X10016. Thank you.
